  1. Well folks, I got the email that I'm advancing to the next round (I did an early application). Unfortunately the only school that's nearby for me with a master's program I'm interested in (that is also GEM affiliated) is not accepting master's students for the fellowship (despite the GEM website saying otherwise). I'm going to withdraw my application in the mean time. I've got a secure job right now, so I'm not going to give that up to move somewhere else for graduate school. I don't know what the economy is going to be like in the next few years because of the pandemic. Good luck to
  2. Haven't heard anything. The three places I applied to were all government labs. I'm prior military with a current (but not active) security clearance, so I was hoping I would get bumped to the top of the list for these labs in addition to having a competitive application. I'm assuming we won't hear anything until much later. The government is sloooooowwwww to hire; I doubt GEM would be an exception to this.
  3. [duplicate post please ignore]
  4. Most likely the GEM University Rep was a former GEM fellow themselves. I'm also curious how they classify people as a "top applicant." Did they already rank everyone they reviewed?
  5. Already? That was fast - we barely just hit a week after the deadline. If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats and major?
  6. Depends if you fill out on the application that you want to do the internship. Otherwise, you would only be considered as an Associate (MS or PhD) or University fellow (MS only). No idea. Did a quick search on google for official statistics and couldn't find anything.
  7. I dug around the older GEM threads and it seems that applicants are not matched with an employer until December/early 2021. I don't know if early consideration actually does anything. As a side note, anyone reading this should check with their GEM University reps to see if funding is actually available for the schools you are applying to. I would not rely on the GEM website to tell you if the school funds MS fellows and/or PhD fellows. I've had the misfortune of applying to a school's MS program under GEM (as listed on the GEM website), and then getting told by the school that they do not
  8. Bumping this thread since I finished my early application portion. Anyone else think the UI for the website was wonky?
  9. Evening fellas, Figured I'd start the 2021 GEM Fellowship thread. A Beta Test for the application has been released: // BREAK // Hello Prospective GEM Applicant: You are receiving this email because you completed a GEM Fellowship Prospect Card online, at a GEM programming event, at an exhibit booth, or started an application in the 202
