I wouldn’t be too worried. My interview was really easy and relaxed. The interviewer spent the first 20 mins calming everyone down. She asked us 3 questions- 1) why social work? 2) how do we socially identify and how might that impact our work? 3) an ethical question. It wasn’t like an intense job interview.
thank you for the reassurance and info :) and huge congrats on your acceptance!

I applied on 1/31 and my application also says submitted. I emailed admissions last week and they told me generally they don’t mark apps as completed but that mine is being reviewed. Based on others timelines I’m hoping to hear something next week.

From what I understand, you should get your degree the cheapest way you can (through an accredited program). I don't know why I feel so drawn to NYU! It must be the marketing It's so expensive though. If I had gotten into Hunter by now, or thought I'd hear back soon, I'd wait it out...but I really don't know. I change my mind on a daily basis. Do you know what you're leaning towards?
Yeah totally, that is my understanding as well. I also definitely have stars in my eyes about NYU that I suspect is entirely down to marketing and their location. Hunter is the biggest schlep from my apartment, and I've heard horror stories about their administration. And then again I also find Fordham's academics interesting and it is the second closest after NYU and of course cheaper but not as cheap... I feel like I'm changing my mind daily and hoping for some clarity!! I don't expect to hear from Hunter until March or April based on friends experiences so there's lots of time to think. I expect I'll be asking both NYU and Fordham for extensions while I wait to hear from Hunter.

Hi, I've been lurking for a while! I applied to several two year programs
I applied to NYU on December 20, got accepted January 25 with a 15k scholarship per year.
I applied to Fordham on January 31, got accepted February 8 (fast!) and received my scholarship information a day later (February 9) which was 3k a year.
I applied to Hunter on January 20, and the application still hasn't been marked as completed :(
Even though Fordham's scholarship was relatively small, it is still far cheaper than NYU. I am still hoping for Hunter, but at this rate the timeline may not work out...
We are in the exact same position, like down to scholarship money. Do you have any idea how you'll choose between these schools (assuming an acceptance to Hunter)? I am feeling so torn and like I have no clue how to make a decision that isn't purely financial, although maybe that is the best way?
Columbia vs. NYU vs. Hunter College for MSW

Like others here I chose an MSW due to its flexibility. I also understand that it's an older degree than counseling and has a bigger lobbying force behind it. In addition to being able to bill Medicare I think that most hospitals and the VA will only hire MSWs and it's just a more well recognized degree. What finalized my decision was looking at profiles of therapists and people who worked a therapeutic centers that interested me and seeing they were all LCSWs.
As far as NYU goes, I joined the accepted students FB page when I got in and saw threads of people who had graduated recommending one go elsewhere (Hunter) due to costs. I also spoke to a friend of mine who went to a private college (outside of NY) and said that her classes often had people straight from undergrad or otherwise with no experience or understanding of social work who ate up a lot of class time and that there were big problems with diversity in the student body in general. I believe a public institution will have a different caliber of student, especially one like Hunter which I have always heard is more selective than NYU, Columbia etc due to the high volume of applications they get. Like alittleshady said this is a super personal decision which in my opinion kind of boils down to are you wealthy enough to afford a private education. If so maybe it's worth it to you, but I've never seen anyone recommend to take out a ton of loans for an MSW.
