  1. Hey! I am in a similar boat. I am dropping you a DM!
  2. I found this resource online and I think it's super useful for applicants. Requesting all those who are pursuing their PhDs in Anthro or have received offers this year to fill this sheet. Thanks! Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qoEVD2hIshffv07L00z0pDS0M25cKCB7PcjXpk-v5X0/edit?usp=sharing
  3. The competition has been very intense post-pandemic. A lot of my POIs said the same. There have fund cuts and lesser intakes too! A few schools did not open up applications last year too which means more apps to other schools and this year! If you didn't get through this time, do not take it on yourself. It's a lot more factors (largely out of your hand). It only tells a lot about the process more than it tells about your capacities as a potential doctoral student. I hope you find the resources and strength to apply again. Good luck!
  4. Hi! A friend of mine is waitlisted at four schools and the wait never seems to end. If any of you or those you know are accepted at any of the following places, especially Indiana and UMich, and are planning to not take them up, kindly let me know. It would really help my friend a lot. - Indiana (Anthro) - Toronto (Religion) - UMich (Anthro-History) - Emory (Religion) Thank you!
  5. I did see a few rejections but I didn't receive mine yet (although I have not been shortlisted for an interview). I think they send out rejections in a staggered manner. I am expecting to claim mine soon.
  6. Hey! Yes. I think interviews are really important in the sense that they are making decisions about who to accept and who to waitlist. So yeah. And about UofT- no, I haven't heard anything from them yet. I was expecting a rejection and this confirms it. Haha.
  7. You should! Definitely write to your POIs asking for the decision timeline and when they'd release their decisions.
  8. I did talk to my POI like a few weeks ago and he said that they've had interviews with the shortlisted candidates. I am not sure if they've sent admission offers yet, but there are no rejections yet. No idea what's taking them so long!
  9. Cultural track. I had my interview on the 10th and received an acceptance on the 20th. Good luck!
  10. CUNY, yes. I got an email around a week ago saying I am accepted. I know of another who did too and another applicant who is waitlisted.
  11. I have applied to NYU and there is literally nothing yet. Another friend did too and she has got nothing. There is hardly anything on NYU on the results page as well. So, either there are no interviews or they are yet to have interviews or they have finished interviews and none of us are even aware of it.
  12. Hi! I personally am not expecting any miracles at this point. I know it's a difficult state of mind to be in. Sending lots of strength, support, and love your way!
  13. Yeah, they do not have interviews as part of their admissions.
  14. I saw quite a few decisions from Princeton on the results webpage and a couple of acceptances from McGill. Just wanted to put it out here if any of you is waiting on these.
  15. Hi. I did see a couple of interviews on the results webpage. You might want to check them. Good luck!
  16. I believe Berkeley has had its interviews and sent out a few acceptances (I am just waiting for a rejection since I did not get a call for the interview). Columbia, a few applicants here said offers will be made by third or fourth week of this month but I think I saw an acceptance somewhere. Toronto, I did see some interview invitations but they were national students. It anyway hardly admits international students but I am unsure if they review international applications separately. Congratulations! Those are some great acceptances!
  17. I did too! They responded saying: "We will be sending offers on a continuous basis over the next few weeks and all applicants will be notified of their result by early-March." Now I am not sure if the interviews are already conducted or that there are no interviews.
  18. Hi. A friend of mine has applied to the UMich Anthro-History program and he's waitlisted too. He said the cohort would be 2-3? They don't take too many students, apparently. But you should totally write to a POI asking for this year's planned intake, etc. I know waiting is the worst thing but I hope some good news comes by. Good luck!
  19. Yeah same. I am assuming your interview with NU is in the third week of Feb? Good luck!
  20. Did anyone here apply to Northwestern? And Toronto? Did anyone hear back fromToronto- interviews/acceptances? Anything at all?
  21. From what I hear, the national deadline for accepting an offer is April 15. Unis usually mention that they will not have anything concrete until a few days prior to that even on that day. My friend got off the shortlist literally on April 15 last year and immediately accepted the offer. It would be really nice if candidates with multiple offers made decisions sooner so the waitlist is cleared sooner! If they do it too late, the waitlist often does not get a chance and unis actually do with a cohort with lesser students than they had intended (this is what a POI told me). I hope this helps! It is a very anxiety-inducing process. Sending you strength and support.
  22. Hi! So I wrote to a prof I was in correspondence with at UPenn after seeing a few interview invitations from UPenn on Grad Cafe. He said they have indeed sent out all interview invitations to the shortlisted candidates. Unfortunately, I am not on the list and so it is fair to assume I will be sent a rejection soon. NYU- I am also waiting to hear from them but I did see one acceptance on grad cafe and they said they had an interview too. I am unsure if it is reliable.
