crickets from irvine... which CSU? Are you an OC local too? Also, I realized it was not u that made chicano art, so sorry about that confusion in my response to one of your earlier posts about MICA.

Also, on the MICA note, they have more money than they lead on! Ask and you shall receive, something I unfortunately didn't learn until my last year. If you tell them you need more or have a better offer, odds are they will counter it. Remember they get 50k a year per undergrad...

Hi there, I went to MICA for my undergrad and I must say, the facilities, culture, and Mount Royal in particular are quite amazing. I know it comes with a price tag but if I could I would go in a heartbeat. Baltimore is a fabulous place to make art and it really pushed me not only as an artist but as a person. I have read your work is about your Chicano background, which I think would be very well received there. Many students make work that is culturally focused and as a result, it really shaped my world view. But more importantly of course, I imagine this program would support and elevate your practice. The city gets a bad rep, but it is fantastic. Also, with John's Hopkins, its filled with brilliant minds of all sorts. Just my two cents.

Hi everyone! Any news from UC Irvine? I haven't heard much other than one of us lucky cats has recently interviewed. Honestly, I don't know why I ask because I won't really know until I know... but somehow I find myself seeking answers instead of patience? I think I want to save myself from false hope that they may still be in the process of sending out interviews. This waiting game is torture. UCI is the only school I applied to. Next time I will apply to more even if just for the fact that I will have more to focus on during the waiting game. The crickets are loud! Good luck and congratulations everybody!

Wow! that sounds ... scary lol. Good on you for going through so many interviews. You should feel like a rockstar! I have to remember that if it doesn't happen for me with UCI, its just not meant to be. when i met with a student to tour the facility, I didn't get the type of feeling you described in your interview at all. The students seemed very relaxed and supportive of one another and when I asked them about the culture they described it as open minded and supportive and not overly intimidating. But that interview sounds pretty nerve wrecking, though I have proved to need that sort of energy to really grow... I went to MICA for my undergrad and it was pretty competitive and I was definitely not one of the stronger students when I began, but that's what really pushed me to expand. I guess I'll just have to wait and see! Best of luck with everything and thank you so much for taking the time to write back to me in such detail, it really helped put my mind at ease for the day❤️

hello fellow hopeful humans, has anyone heard anything from UC Irvine Studio Art? This is the only school I applied to and the anticipation is killing me. I emailed them about a month ago with questions about the timeline for our application because the website had two different dates, then again with concerns about not being able to upload images to the portfolio portion, and then later with a question about a letter of recommendation... crickets since day one...
