  1. Hey All! I am excited to say that my cycle has ended and that I have accepted my offer from USC with a full-ride scholarship.
  2. What do you want to end up doing after you graduate? Also, you might want to consider a dual program. I know that UVA has a strong emphasis on environmental planning. **Michigan has a dual program: https://seas.umich.edu/academics/dual-degree-programs/environment-sustainability-and-urban-and-regional-planning-ms-and **Duke has a dual program: https://nicholas.duke.edu/news/introducing-new-dual-degree-program-environmental-management-and-city-regional-planning **Might have to ask admissions if you do accept these offers if it is possible to still do the dual degree. Again, before you do anything I think it will be best to ponder what it is you want to achieve while in school and what careers you want after graduating.
  3. For those who attended the USC Admitted Students Day tell me what they talked about. I wanted to go but UT Austin's Admitted Students Day was today as well.
  4. I've been accepted into UT Austin and USC MPP/MUP dual programs and have the same amount of funding (USC will be slightly cheaper as I will be living with my parents for free which means I won't need to worry about bills, rent, food, etc.). My eventual goal is to work for a non-profit real estate firm or state/local government. Policy area of focus is urban policy (transportation and/or affordable housing). Does anyone have reasons to avoid or choose one over the other. I would be happy to work and live in either Texas or California.
  5. CONGRATS!!!!!!! The April 15 deadline is just to accept the admission offer. FIGHT ON!!!
  6. No. I was seriously considering it but I got bettering funding opportunities elsewhere.
  7. If you do not hear anything this coming week than I would send a follow up email to Sarah.
  8. If you did not already receive an email concerning acceptance/waitlist/rejection decision you might want to contact the admission team. The April 15 deadline is the deadline for those who are already accepted into the program to decide if they want to accept or reject admittance into the program.
  9. April 15th. Most schools have this deadline but not all. Here are a list of schools who have agreed to this universal deadline according to the "April 15th Resolution": https://cgsnet.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/CGS_April15_Resolution_Feb2022Revision11.pdf
  10. If you got an email to check your application portal your decision letter should be available to view. If you did not get this email I would check your portal. If it is not there than I would email the admissions team. Most of the decisions that were sent were rejections.
  11. Rejected from UCLA. This ends my application cycle. I have narrowed my decision between UT Austin and USC. I have rejected all other offers. If you are on the waitlist for UT Austin or USC I will probably make my decision by April 8.
  12. I just received an email from UCLA saying to check my portal for my decision letter but when I go into my portal the link to view my letter was not there. I contacted the admissions team but was curious if anyone else had this issue.
  13. Guess that answers my question. I have either been waitlisted or rejected. Super bummed as UCLA was my top choice.
  14. Just got into the UT-Austin Masters of Community and Regional Planning program. So happy. Funding will come at the end of the month. Still waiting anxiously for UCLA. If I do not hear back by this week I am just going to assume that I have been rejected. UT-Austin and USC are my top choices and am just waiting for funding info before I make my final decision.
  15. If you got a offers which one would you choose and why? I am conflicted because both cost about the same. UT is cheaper but if you factor in living expenses (rent/food/etc.) it comes out to be the same as USC (I won't have living expenses since I will be living with my parents). Both have great research centers and professors I would love to do research with and have a great alumni network. Career goals: Work in state/local government for a few years and than get my PhD and enter academia.
  16. Did they receive an abnormally large amount of applicants this cycle? I have not received a decision yet.
  17. I am not 100% sure but I believe that it accounts for the mandatory units to be considered a full time student.
  18. I decided to reject my offers from University of Arizona and Portland Sate. For those of you who are on the waitlist for those programs I hope you receive good news.
  19. After being accepted into multiple Masters of Urban Planning/Public Policy programs for the FA22 term I was curious what was the best way to email professors for TA/GRA positions? I am completely new to this entire process and have had no prior research experience. Although I am going to a professional program and plan on going into the workforce after, I want to eventually get my phD and go into academia, hence why I want some research experience under my belt.
  20. Wouldn't worry. I heard that this admissions cycle was very competitive with abnormally high amounts of applicants. I think that they are sending out decisions in batches as are many other schools which might explain the delay on notifying applicants.
  21. Has anyone heard from UT-Austin for the MAsters of Community and Regional Planning program? I got my acceptance to UT-Austin's Masters of Public Affairs and thought that the other would follow shortly but I have heard nothing.
  22. My hopes for getting into UCLA just plummeted to an all time low. I'm still giving it an hour since I received my UT-Austin and University of Arizona decisions late at night. If not than there is always tomorrow.
