  1. Anyone going to UC santa cruz this fall? ill be doing a masters in CS there
  2. I cant really say for harvard english, but one of the programs i applied to said youd find out by march 15th, and id lost hope by the 8th, but got an email saying i got in on the ninth, so dont count yourself out yet.
  3. Not a clue on that.... but I got into UCSC's master program for computer science, wahoo! now im terrified of grad school, as opposed to terrified of if ill get in anywhere or not
  4. Now im thoroughly confused.... I havent gotten any information regarding acceptance or denial, yet i got an email asking for an RSVP for their visit weekend, and i could actually count emails they sent to (around 200) which id guess isnt EVERYONE who applied even though UCSC engineering isnt that huge/well known. So do i get my hopes up because they asked for my RSVP? Do i call/email to ask WTF going on? Am i just an accidental blip on the radard? Ugh, ulcers.... i wish i didnt have my hopes up for one school haha.....
  5. Ugh, still no word from UCSC's school of engineering, anyone heard from any of their grad programs? Ive even checked Yuster and Applycorner and it doesnt look like anyone from any program has heard anything, but its always hard to tell with them.... im not encouraged though seeing their admitted grad BBQ set for march 16th.....
  6. I'm waiting from PSU (portland State), UCSC, WashU looking at Masters Programs for computer science
  7. Im in the same boat as feeling hopeless with seeing the admitted students barbeque open house mid march, and having heard nothing, not exactly encouraging.
  8. Just out of curiousity, anyone heard from UCSC yet or know their policies on informing students if theyve been admitted? They have contradictory dates across their site, and also claim they inform via email, but ive seen kids in the past year or two who dont get an email, but just get their snail mail packet.... The way they state it on the site no news is bad news....
  9. So im curious as to if i should even get my hopes up for getting in to UCSC for an MS in computer science as and potentially up to a PhD (see if i can hack it or not with getting an MS), and in the process of my applications else where felt vastly unqualified. I got a 3.8 GPA overall on my BS in computer science 3.98 for major, but its coming from a small liberal arts school, well rated (linfield college) but very small program so I dont have nearly as much computer science background as the average university student. I did get 720 Q/550 V/5 W on the GREs as well as worked 3 months as an intern at micron technologies working with the pattern recognition group there on memory, but i feel like my liberal arts background is a handicap, even though it is somewhat unique. Additionally i did finish i a full minor in mathematics as well. I got 4 letters of reccomendation, 2 from advisors/professors, one from a professor, one from my intern supervisor, the worst letter would be from the none advisor, and my 2 advisors thought very highly of me. any opinions? Because ive been giving honest thought to getting a second degree in computer engineering and or doing a year more of undergraduate studies somewhere to beef up my CS background. Thanks people! Ian
