  1. May I ask what number you called? This is super petty of me but I kind of want a formal rejection at this point, and I thought maybe calling them would help that along.
  2. Same situation, HM, VG/E across the board, decent reviews. In my case instead of a low GPA, I had a bunch of scattered research so I don't have a publication and ended up transferring institutions at one point. I really appreciated that my reviewers were still understanding and encouraging of my career. I didn't end up getting funded because they thought my project, while well conceived and thought out, was a bit "high risk high reward." *shrugs* Their loss when I get that high reward and they don't get part in the credit. ?
  3. Same here. I never got an update on my portal, and I still have yet to hear an outright rejection. I applied Physics AFOSR, though my subconcentration is optical physics. Based on previous commenters, we know some BAAs or disciplines won't distribute any awards based on available projects and funding.
  4. I also applied Physics (optics) through AFSOR but have not heard anything yet.
  5. Man, 10PM? I know it's a little mean of them to spread out the awards notifications, but I do feel bad for whoever is having to work that late. In any case, congrats!!!
  6. Seems likely, but I'll still hold out hope as someone who didn't get the update. Congrats again!
  7. To be fair, the solicitation for this year said the awardees are estimated to be closer to 2500, so they might have more "potential" applications to choose from and that's making things take a little bit longer this year. I dunno, from my perspective as an engineer, +/- 1 week is still pretty close to a deadline given the number of people and moving parts involved. I've definitely never had a project with a group of people work that tight personally. I'm willing to give them some grace even if it's a bit frustrating.
  8. The Excel sheet is also blank for the year 2021. I guess it would be safer to test any technical difficulties on an old set of awardees, but that's still really weird.
  9. Sorry to hear it, that really sucks. If there's potential for areas to be closed to project applications, we should be allowed to contact area leads before we apply, so we know what slots are actually available. Obviously funding can shift around, but a result that soon indicates they would likely already have known. The fact that we're so discouraged from reaching out to anyone when we apply has probably screwed over a lot people like this and it's ridiculous.
