I got into Iowa for fiction over the weekend. Hi everyone! I have not posted at all but I've read everyone's posts. I got an acceptance call from Iowa over the weekend and wanted to let you guys know what Sam Chang said she's going to be making calls for probably this whole week. So if you haven't heard anything, it's still possible! also, for those of you getting discouraged, I reapplied. It's so random and crazy. Last year I was waitlisted at five programs and this year I was rejected from all five of those same programs. I thought, Jesus, I guess I got worse in the last year. And right when I was feeling down, I got the phone call. Keep goiiiiiiinnnnngggggg!!!!

At what point is it okay to email schools like Brown and Iowa? Feels so arrogant and shitty to reach out but the wait is so brutal.

I don't believe so. I think they're still notifying.

That's definitely not what I have heard. In a previous year someone I know was accepted there weeks later than when they first notified for fiction. He recently told me that they often spread out calling because they don't often know how funding will work for everyone.

Do you guys know, does Iowa send out rejections only by mail or do they notify you online as well?

Hey! Fiction here. Do you guys think Iowa is still notifying people? I'm not on anything else so can't see. And anyone hear about Brown or Boston University yet?

Thanks for the info! About thirty seconds after I posted I got a waitlist email from WashU. So if anyone else has had silence it might be good news!

Not sure what to make of the fact that I haven't heard from WashU or JHU yet. Anyone else apply in fiction and not hear anything from them?

I think a lot of writers on here have received rejections from Iowa in the mail. I still have not heard from them or anyone else on your list.

Hello! I know that last year I was waitlisted for fiction at Brown on March 9th. I don't know when they notified poetry but we are certainly right around when fiction was notified last year.

I will preface this by saying I am NOT A POET--but... I know a lot of us have been searching for sources of Joy. I have been listening to a podcast called Close Readings. Each episode, the host and a guest go over a poem and discuss it for an hour. I have found it so generative, peaceful, inspirational. It's been a huge gift right now! You should check it out!

Just got rejected from Michigan and Syracuse. Last year I was waitlisted by BOTH of them... so I had high hopes. I know this isn't how it works... but getting two flat out rejections from schools I was waitlisted at before makes me feel like... I don't know, like I didn't get any better over the course of a year. And I worked HARD at getting better! Oh well. It's a nice day where I am so I'll take a walk and move on. I hope everyone's doing well.

Hmmm, if Michigan is emailing acceptances for fiction, I guess that means if you haven't heard anything then it's a no? Dang, Michigan was my highest hope. I was waitlisted there last year and as far as I know made it really close. Oh well. Congrats to everyone!
