Hopefully we hear something soon!
  4. Hola! Thought I would contribute to this waiting room.. I applied to four schools for PhD in Spanish: NYU, UVA - Charlottesville, UNC - Chapel Hill, and University of Pennsylvania. I just finished a double MA in Spanish and French Langs/Lits and am now teaching so I've been pretty busy but now that it's January I'm sorta nervous about the decisions which could be rolling in as early as the last week of this month...eek. Good luck to everyone!
  5. Good luck with the rest of your applications! I'll keep my results posted as I get them
  6. Hola BBBAK -- buena pregunta.. aun no estoy seguro. O tambien has solicitado el ingreso a UNC? Congrats on the acceptance! Where did you get an acceptance from already?
  7. Hola a todos! I'm also applying to PhD programs in Spanish/Hispanic Studies at: UPenn, NYU, UVA, UNC-Chapel Hill. I'm interested in modern and contemporary peninsular literature. Han acabado con las solicitudes?
  8. I did my MA in Spanish and French (Langs & Lits) and if you are doing 18th in French I would think Italian would be very useful. I'm thinking in particular of all of the influences of la Commedia dell'Arte (sp?) in much of 18th century French literature (theater - Marivaux, philosophy - Rousseau, Diderot, etc.). Latin would still be useful though - I would try to do both since many PhD programs seem to require 2 or even 3 additional languages.
