Does anyone know what funding typically looks like for Ph.D. Graduate Instructors on a 1:1?

Very good point--it's definitely a fantastic program. I am still curious about the others--can't help myself (maybe it's the $2,000 application investment haha).

So I just got an e-mail from FSU with "application status" in the subject line and almost had a heart attack until I saw that the e-mail pretty much just said that offers will be made mid-March. Not nice.

Hi there. You did apply to a lot of schools--and I thought my 14 were expensive! I came close to applying to Old Dominion, too, and am having thoughts about sending an app in before the deadline, although I'm not sure I can justify spending any more money and bothering my profs again at this point. I'm interested in animal studies, vegan/vegetarian rhetoric, social activism, feminism, and new media. I am reaching the point of obsession/neurosis when it comes to checking my mailbox and e-mail.

Yes, it was definitely a surprise to get a letter this early. I knew MSU notified early, but I thought it would be the end of Jan.ish.

Today, I got a rejection letter dated Dec. 20 for MSU's Rhetoric & Writing Ph.D. program. The application deadline was Dec. 1. I am now feeling scared about my other schools and glad I applied to a lot of them. Was this a first-round rejection or does MSU typically make all decisions early? Blah.... not a good start. Have any other rhet/comp folks heard back from anywhere?

Hi all. I posted this on the communications board, too, but I am also looking in English/interdisciplinary studies. Do you have any thoughts about strong digital rhetoric/media-focused Ph.D. programs?

Does anyone know of any communications Ph.D. programs that focus on interdisciplinarity and digital media? I've got Northwestern, Brown, Clemson, and NC State on my list so far. Thanks!
