  1. Does anyone know anything about where Yale is at? I still haven't heard a thing from anyone on here or on Draft about their playwriting applications. Have they begun? Is this FAFSA recalculation screwing everything up? So many questions! Had my Pace interview last week and felt really good about it, but haven't heard a word since. Feeling quite antsy. Haven't been officially rejected from Columbia yet, though I'm anticipating it's on the way. No interviews or communications of any kind, which I'm not taking as a good sign since other interviews have been sent out already. I was among the Brown massacre on the results page, but was surprised a few hours later when I got an email from Julia saying she liked my play, which was nice to hear. Softened the blow a little bit. Overall I feel a little demoralized right now. I've been feeling really trapped by this constant web of what-ifs for almost 3 months now with grad school, a potential major job change, waiting to hear back on a huge grant, in addition to a handful of other opportunities... and now i'm staring down the barrel of none of it happening. It's hard to have been so overwhelmed by possibilities and then end right where I began. Hoping I'll know more next week. Until then, madness ensues...
  2. Also waiting on Brown. Rumor has it that we'll have some news on that front this week. Who knows when! Anyone have any idea how many people usually apply to Brown? Just curious how big their pool is. Any news from anyone on Yale? Haven't seen anything on the results page, which seems odd based on previous years. I'm curious if it's uncouth to email schools and ask what their timeline is? Seems like it's a simple question, but also don't want to jinx myself... Baby is getting antsy! (it's me- i'm baby)
  3. Huge congrats to those who got interviews! Excited to see how things progress for us all. Hoping to hear from Columbia soon myself- crossing my fingers for everyone!
  4. I have my interview with Pace next week. First one ever, so I'm really curious what kinds of questions others have been asked in playwriting interviews? What are the kinds of things they're looking for? I assume part of it is seeing that you're not crazy, can handle the program, and will be a good member of their cohort, but any curve balls I should be prepared for? I'm gnawing my fingernails off with the waiting. Every buzz of my phone makes my blood pressure spike, doubly so to see an email- followed by a quick crash when I read what notification LinkedIn pushed my way. It's strange to see other departments within the same school moving forward with interviews/acceptances while we live in a delicious limbo. Still haven't seen any acceptances/interview requests on the results page which oddly increases my worries. I'm taking some comfort in knowing things are moving forward. The silence there too makes me wonder if people are getting results and just not sharing them here. Or maybe it's a really competitive year and they're all in their conference rooms around the country building murder boards with our applications, grappling with the weight of our collective magnificence...!!! A person can dream, anyway. It's nice to check in on this forum and see we're all in the same boat. Though simultaneously, there's also an anxious part of my brain that's screaming "by posting in this forum you'll jinx your chances!" Trying to shut that up and focus on the wonderful possibilities.
  5. Hi team, Been a lurker on this site for a couple years now before finally applying this season. I have apps in for Brown, Columbia, Pace, and Yale. Brown has reached out to me because I apparently submitted my samples incorrectly, so I know they're in progress. Pace also asked for my second sample a few weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything since. For my writing sample I used an absurdist comedy about suicidal ideation I've been tinkering with for the last year or two. For the ones that wanted two different samples, I threw in a one-act political comedy I wrote and produced for Fringe last year. This waiting is driving me nuts- a feeling I'm sure no one can relate to (he said, sarcastically). I keep checking the online portals and finding nothing. I'm debating whether or not to change my day-job lately and it's made all the more complicated by the potential of me moving for school in 6 months. A big looming time bomb of possibility just ticking away in the distance and I have no idea if it'll go off, and even if it does how will I pay for it 🥴 Anyone who's been through this before- do you know anything about when interview offers/decisions start to come in? I've always assumed mid-February through March, and then if I haven't heard anything by April I'm probably toast, but that's all circumspect. What other sites do you all check for the hot goss? I've mostly been poking around this forum, but I wonder if there are others? Stay strong team! We're nearly there!
