  1. congrats on your offer! I received funding from my college in late April. i’m not sure if it comes earlier if you’re funded through the university or the history faculty though
  2. does anyone know when oxford usually gets back to dphils about funding? i’m a current masters student at oxford and didn’t hear back on funding until after i had accepted the offer. but I have an offer in the US with funding that I need to make a decision on kind of soon! so I was wondering if it’s maybe different for dphils?
  3. what does it mean if a school already released its acceptances, rejections, and waitlists and you haven’t heard anything? specifically i’m talking about university of michigan. it’s the only US school I’m still waiting on and I don’t know if I should reach out or not
  4. has anyone heard from UCLA yet? I remember an informal rejection on the results page a while back but has anyone heard anything else? and has anyone heard from the university of michigan?
  5. hope everyone’s doing well! i know we’re all applicants here so this is maybe not the best place to ask this question but what’s everyone’s general understanding of the importance of a program’s rank/reputation? I’ve been getting mixed answers that rank is everything and without a high ranking program behind you, you might as well not get a phd or that rank does not matter and what does matter is faculty fit. the job market in history is not great and the AHA job report seems to confirm the fact that going to a top ranked program is important but I’ve also had my mentors tell me not to stress too much about program rankings because the job market is bad for everyone lol. just wondering what everyone’s thoughts were and hope everyone’s holding up okay!!
  6. is anyone else here’s subfield gender & queer history (particularly in the US)? and have you heard anything yet?
  7. congrats to the harvard acceptance on the results page!!!! hoping we all get good news this week!!
  8. should I assume rejections from princeton & yale at this point if I haven’t received interview requests? or is there still time? (also congrats to everyone who’s received requests so far!!)
  9. hi! hope everyone is staying sane during this waiting period 🥲🥲 just wondering if any of the people who reported yale interviews mind sharing their sub fields? good luck everyone and congrats on the interview requests so far!!!!
  10. has anyone heard from cuny yet? it’s the only school i’m still waiting on.
  11. hi! i hope everyone’s applications are going well! i’ve been reaching out to potential advisors but I keep getting the same response that they don’t meet with students before acceptances. my friend who applied last season (albeit in a different field) had multiple zoom meetings with POIs before even applying and said it was really crucial to her deciding where to apply/her eventual acceptance to her current program. I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same experience as me?
