  1. Hi everyone, HDS released decisions! I got in too
  2. hi! i am interested in interfaith chaplaincy, particularly prison chaplaincy, and got into union too (same package!). i also want to get a phd in a humanities discipline (not religion) but would love to be a professor and chaplain simultaneously. are you planning on visiting union? would love to connect i'm also waiting on hds after my interview last week, expecting decisions to be released this week. their aid is supposedly better from union's so i'm holding out hope... i do think, though, between uchicago and union, this type of ministry you're interested in might be better nurtured in the latter. i can dm you my reasoning for this if you want!
  3. Is anyone gonna be @ the UMich recruitment weekend this week? Would love to connect!
  4. Maybe ask your POIs from this application round what might have gone wrong? Do you have a MA? I applied this cycle (first time) to 7 programs and got rejected from 3 (Ivy's). Professors from the schools that rejected me emailed me saying that my application was strong but that people in those committees were reluctant to accept people without MAs (which is idiotic imo, I don't have money for that). Maybe that had something to do with it?
  5. Congrats on UChicago! I am also waiting on HDS and YDS for MDiv. I had HDS interview two weeks ago. I got into Union's MDiv with a full tuition scholarship and stipend on Friday. Good luck on the rest of your applications!
  6. I only applied to 3 MDiv programs, YDS, Union, and HDS. I've had an interview at HDS and have not heard from the rest, though it seems from past years that we might find out this week or next. Good luck to all!!
  7. I don't know what your subfield is but for Latin American History: I had an interview late January and found out about my status at the end of Jan. I think that subfield already sent out their acceptances and waitlists. Not sure about the rest, though.
  8. Hey! So, yes, I also felt like sh*t when I got rejected from the Ivies, especially Columbia because it was a good fit. Like you, I also applied right after undergrad, also didn't major in History, and I'm also a first gen low income student (intl but did undergrad in the US). I am actually waitlisted at two of the schools you mentioned getting accepted into and got into UMich. Take some time to stop beating yourself up and celebrate!!!!!!!! This is a BIG ASS ACCOMPLISHMENT. People with MAs get rejected from these schools. You have potential, clearly!!! I understand the hyperfixation but do continue to reflect on why you applied to those programs in the first place. Clearly you liked them, and they had something great to offer you in your academic journey.
  9. Hi guys, I just wanted to update that I received an interview request from HDS on Friday the 16th!
  10. Hi! Just wondering if anyone has heard back for an MDiv interview for HDS? I keep seeing them for MTS, but not MDiv. Thanks!
  11. I heard from UMich History/WGS Joint PhD yesterday. Unsure if they only released decisions for the joint program though. Good luck!!
  12. Honestly, I'd just email POIs/DGSs. I think the whole "releasing staggered decisions" is kinda vicious and evil lmao, especially if they are saving rejections for last, after everyone else found out/not notifying waitlisted people. Like... I have not seen any NYU rejections, yet I found out about my status before the end of January. Idk, it's f* up. Anyways, rant over, I wish you can find some clarity on your status really soon!!! goood luck!
  13. Hi all! If you don't mind me asking, did you apply to the MDiv program or something else?
  14. Still waiting on UMich (WGS/History joint program) and UPenn-- though I am expecting a rejection from UPenn since I didn't have an interview. Edit: also, UMich seems to have released decisions this + next week in the past, so I wouldn't worry about silence!
  15. Got the "While you wait" email from HDS yesterday which made me feel more reassured about not having received an interview yet...
