  1. Cool! In no particular order, I applied to the following: HGSE, UPenn, Stanford, and Columbia Teachers College (focus on international & comparative education). Good luck to you too and everyone else here!
  2. Yes. I don’t know why it’s like this but if you search for Columbia Teachers College (those exact words) directly in the search bar of the results page without using any filters, you get these two results. EDIT: unless of course the person was referring to another “Teachers College” not at Columbia but with the same program
  3. Haha! I’m in a totally different time zone and should wake up in a few hours for work but can’t even sleep. Must put my phone on silent! Lol
  4. Looks like someone else got an interview on the 10th!
  5. I wonder if Harvard might actually start sending out PhD interview invitations by the end of this week, maybe even today. Lol I just realized something. Earlier, I had thought (based on GradCafe result trends) that it might be one of those days at the end of next week. However, I just took a look at the HGSE academic calendar for the past few years and noticed another trend—that invitations went out right before J-Term ended. For Fall 2022, people started posting about interviews starting from January 19, two days before J-Term ended on Friday the 21st. And spring semester classes started the following Monday. For Fall 2020, people started posting about interviews starting from January 17, which was a Friday and the day that J-Term ended. There was a longer break and classes began on the 27th. For Fall 2019, people started posting about interviews starting from January 17, the day before J-Term ended on Friday the 18th. Similarly, there was a week-long break before classes began on the 28th. It's the same pattern for Fall 2018 (minus the week-long break after J-Term)and Fall 2017. I didn't check farther back on the calendar. Basically, it seems to be right as J-Term ends. This year, J-Term ends this Friday the 13th, meaning that we might start hearing back from today, technically. EDIT: I just checked... The trend goes back to at least January 2014... It has been consistent for the past decade. Lol People started posting about interviews on the day of or just before J-Term ended. That means now. ?
  6. Oh, I just realized that it will be Friday the 13th! ? Edit #1: I only meant to say that the 13th falls on a Friday this month, not that emails will go out that day necessarily, though I have heard of some schools sending out mass rejections on Valentine’s Day. So brutal! Lol Edit #2: Sorry, I’m editing this to avoid adding multiple posts BUT I just realized something. If you take a look at this three-year academic calendar for UPenn, you’ll notice that the Spring 2021 term began on Wednesday, January 20, and the earliest posting I could find among the GradCafe results about an interview was from two days later on Friday, January 22. Then last year, the Spring 2022 term began on Wednesday, January 12, and the earliest interview posting on GradCafe that I could find was from the next day, which was Thursday, January 13. This year, classes are set to begin TODAY, January 11. Earlier, I had thought that it was about the third week of the month, but now I realize that it probably has to do more with the start of the spring semester. @weallgotthis, I think you’re right that people might indeed start hearing back in the next few days!
  7. @weallgotthisAs eduforall said, it really could be at any time! And it might also have been that maybe some people received their invitations the year(s) before but just never added them on GradCafe. This is all just based on self-reported information from this site. Let’s wait and see!
  8. Wow, that’s great! Did you request to meet with them or did they themselves suggest you meet via Zoom? Either way, whether it’s a “semi-interview” or not, I think it’s a great sign because often professors don’t have time to respond to so many emails from prospective students. So, I think that the fact you received such a lengthy response via Zoom is a great sign that they must be at least somewhat interested in something you wrote in your email. I haven’t heard back from Columbia yet, but I did have a POI at another one of my top choices meet with me via Zoom in September (a few days after which I submitted my application). I didn’t see it as an interview in any way, but I still thought of it as a good sign, since she took so much time out of her day. Her advice was very helpful, and I really appreciated it. Her words gave me some hope as I wait to hear back from that school too. But of course these programs are so competitive, so it can really go either way. One thing that really made me hopeful was that the professor assured me not to feel disheartened if I don’t hear back from any professors (prior to applying) and that not receiving a response is in no way a reflection of my chances at any school. She said that sometimes professors don’t respond to students in order to distance themselves until the application is actually submitted. So if someone doesn’t hear back from any POI, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad. But of course this is all in regards to before the application is submitted. At this point, the silence can be so nerve-wracking, so I totally understand what you mean! But I wouldn’t worry; it’s not mid or late-January yet.
  9. Hi, @thinkwisely. That’s okay; I think interview invitations generally start going out from mid-January for many graduate schools of education. At least, that’s what I’ve noticed, though some do send invitations earlier. I noticed that a lot of STEM programs send out their invites in December, but that’s different. I applied to the Comparative and International Education program and also have not heard back. You mentioned you applied to Philosophy and Education. I noticed that the one person who posted in the results page about getting an interview also applied to the same program as you did. But I’m sure there must be more invitations going out soon!
  10. Wow, it looks like someone already got an interview invitation from Teachers College on January 3. That was early! Good luck to whoever posted it!
  11. Hello, everyone! I noticed that there have been no threads posted for Columbia TC in the last few years, so I decided to get one started for this fall. Has anyone else applied? (My application was for PhD admission.)
  12. I think some might be applying for the masters, which has a later deadline.
  13. Hello! For those of you who have applied to Penn for one of the PhD programs, I checked the GradCafe results to see what dates people posted saying that they received an invitation for an interview. I know that the results might not be fully accurate (since some people might have posted at a later date, some might have been in different time zones, etc.), but here is what I’ve found. It seems as though applicants in previous years have been invited to an interview weekend. These are the dates when people posted about an interview: Fall 2022: One person on Thursday, January 13; one person on Friday, January 14; and one person on Friday, January 28 Fall 2021: Two people on Friday, January 22, and one person on Monday, January 25 Fall 2020: Three people on Friday, January 17, and one person on Monday, January 20 Fall 2019: Four people on Friday, January 18 Then there is nothing posted for Fall 2018 or Fall 2017. The results do go back several years more, but I stopped checking for dates that fall before Fall 2013. The few posted for Fall 2013, 2015, and 2016 were all on a Thursday or Friday though. What I’ve found is that it appears as though interview invitations for Penn GSE’s PhD programs tend to start going out in the third week of January, generally on a Thursday or Friday (most likely Friday). Based on this, I think that this year’s invitations MIGHT go out on Friday, January 20, and Monday, January 23. Let’s see what actually happens though!
  14. Hehe! Thank you. This will make me extra sad when I don't get my interview invitation, but it was fun. ? And you're absolutely right about those data not being 100% reliable. Different timezones, people posting later, lack of clarity on whether that was when the interview invitation went out or when the interview took place, etc. (though I ignored ones where people wrote in the comment that it was the actual interview date). But it's great when people do post information for others to see for years down the line. I hope people will also do the same this year!
  15. Hello! No, I haven't received any. But here is what I've found by searching through the GradCafe results for the dates when people posted that they received an interview for a PhD in education at Stanford and also checking any notes they might have written. I understand that some people might have posted on a later date than when they were actually notified. I ignored results where it said that they had the interview on a certain date and instead tried to search for results where it said that they were contacted for an interview or there were no comments posted. I wish it was a bit clearer, but I tried my best! Here is what I have. For Fall 2022, it seems as though one person got notified for an interview as early as Sunday, January 9! Another person posted on Tuesday, January 18. For Fall 2021, one person posted on Monday, January 18, and two people posted on Tuesday, January 19. For Fall 2020, one person posted on Thursday, January 23. For Fall 2019, one person posted on Tuesday, January 22, and one person posted on Wednesday, January 30. Then I couldn't find any results tagged under "Interview" for Fall 2014 through Fall 2018. But for Fall 2013, I saw one result posted on Monday, January 21. For Fall 2012, I also saw only one result posted and that was for Monday, January 23. That's all I could find for Stanford, since not many people posted about their interviews. Based on this though, maybe people will start hearing back even as early as this weekend! But I think it's more likely that interviews will probably start going out on the Monday or Tuesday of the fourth week of January, meaning possibly Monday, January 23, or Tuesday, January 24, of this year. That's just my opinion, but I could be totally wrong!
  16. Thank you for this info! Your post inspired me to search the GradCafe results and make my own spreadsheet. ? The following dates are when people posted that they received an interview for a PhD at Harvard for the education field from Fall 2014 to Fall 2022. I understand that they might have posted later instead of on the actual date of the email, but here is what I have: Fall 2022: Three people on Wednesday, January 19, and one person on Saturday, January 22 Fall 2021: N/A Fall 2020: Four people on Friday, January 17 Fall 2019: Three people on Thursday, January 17, and one person on Friday, January 18 Fall 2018: One person on Thursday, January 18, and one person on Friday, January 19 Fall 2017: One person on Friday, January 20, and two people on Saturday, January 21 Fall 2016: Four people on Saturday, January 23 Fall 2015: Two people on Saturday, January 24; two people on Sunday, January 25; one person on Monday, January 26; one person on Tuesday, January 27; and one person on Sunday, February 1 Fall 2014: Two people on Friday, January 24, and two people on Saturday, January 25 Based on all of this, I think that the PhD interviews MIGHT start going out on Thursday, January 19, or Friday, January 20, of this year. Of course I might be totally wrong. ? (On a related note, a few years ago, I noticed a trend of decisions for masters at HGSE going out on the first Friday of March, but I don't know if that is still the case.)
  17. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go because I moved abroad a couple of years ago. But did you get a chance to attend? How was it? I’m interested in the Education, Culture, and Society program. And yes, I‘ve heard of how competitive these programs are. So few places! Good luck to everyone!
  18. Hello! I did and I also see the same status. I think you and I might have applied to all of the same schools. Haha
  19. @Here2TeachSure, feel free to do so!
  20. For those of you who already submitted your application, does the status show as simply “Submitted”? I just wanted to make sure.

  22. Hello! I did my EdM at HGSE a few years ago and am currently applying to the PhD program. I also had a similar background as yours, though you have much more teaching experience than I did at the time! Also, my undergrad was not in the education field. (I do have a couple of years of teaching experience and a clear connection to the education field by now though.) When I got into the masters program, my GPA was also a 3.3, but I scored high on the GRE and had a second degree, both of which I think might have helped. I also had some research experience, though that might be more relevant for a PhD. And I was also long distance from my husband (different continents), but we talked on the phone everyday and I visited home during the winter break. We’ll be long distance again if I get into the PhD program, but thankfully he’s very supportive! If you have any questions, feel free to message me.
  23. Hi, @Here2Teach! Good luck to you too on the applications and getting everything submitted. I hope you have some time to enjoy the holidays as well! Hello, @eduforall! As far I know, Stanford doesn't have formal interviews but some professors might reach out directly to conduct informal ones. I guess that could be at any point. I do know that most university campuses are closed already or will be closing this week, so hopefully if they do contact us, I'm guessing it might be in January or later. January seems to be a very exciting month! I just hope there will be good news for us. ?
  24. They said that any interview invitations for selected PhD applicants would be sent out in January. That's all I know.
  25. Hi! I noticed that there isn't any thread for Stanford GSE Fall 2023 applications yet, so I just decided to start one now. It's never too early, right? Haha I'm applying for a PhD and submitted my applications in September. I just got all of my materials finally turned in today for all of my schools. My applications are finally complete! I'm still waiting for my status on the portal to be updated though. How about you guys? Anyone else applying to Stanford GSE this year? What stage of the application process are you in currently? I was reading through threads from previous years and this seems like a great community, so I thought it would be nice to get through this together! ?
