Last year they sent acceptances between the first and second week of February... So probably some more weeks ahead...
-
I guess the results will come normally in business days. But Emory sent some results last Jan 7th (Saturday). Anyway, tbh, I'll try to enjoy my weekends. Results are like rain/snow: they come when they come ?

I agree. I heard that adcomms are very "protective" about their decision-making process and wouldn't accept external influence. So, activities that happen outside the boundaries of the adcomm shouldn't impact the admission decision.

Hey @qampus. Tbh, there are quant-oriented programs and those that, although not quant-oriented, appreciate quant abilities - and will require you to take stats courses. That said, you can still shape your SoP to show interest in qualitative research, and look for professors who share "ethnographic sensibility". You can find good professors with high qualitative expertise in NW, Georgetown, UW-Madison, Minnesota...
-
They are different programs, adcomms and so on. So, no interference... PE also released results earlier than PoliSci last year.
-
I am claiming UT Austin as well. So happy.
-
I've also compiled a dataset with previous results, but my time series is shorter One cannot go wrong with books. Best way to travel across time... I am puzzled that I haven't seen anybody claiming interviews in UT-Austin (I think they interviewed people last year). I hope we have good surprises between this and next week... In my dataset, UW-Madison, UT-Austin, and Emory should release results soon...

Wow. This is new and amazing! You probably already know that, but questions are normally something like: Why a PhD? Why PE? Why do you expect to get from a PhD? Who are you (as a person, researcher, scholar)? What is different in your research? Why this university/program? What would you bring to the program? Which challenges do you expect to face and how do you plan to overcome them? What questions do you have for us...

Welcome @sktlab Being active here reduce a little the anxiety... I hope cohorts are at least normal-sized and universities play a good game of coordination, offering admission for all of us ?
-
I faced a similar situation. Then I've talked to a professor and he told me the application is more about what we can do than what we did. That being said, of course a publication is a signal that one can do things, but it shouldn't have a HUGE impact. Anyway, what I did: I uploaded an updated CV in the apps that we can do this easily, but I let it as it is in those that I'd have to send an email and so on...

Has anybody heard anything from UT-Austin? Last year they interviewed applicants...
-
This is so valuable. Thank you so much for your insights into the process there!
-
No communications. I don't think the departments send anything but invitations for interviews (if the case) and results... This is a lonely process of waiting. Actually, this forum makes this waiting less lonely
-
We better be among those offered admission then ?
-
Oh, my confusion, it was PolGrad that applied there haha So, Northwestern sent their acceptances on Feb 3rd last year. https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/?per_page=20&q=&institution=Northwestern+University&program=Political+Science°ree=PhD&season=F22
-
I applied for Northwestern. We should expect answers to come after the 1st week of February... Can I ask you which is your field? Trying to decide if I still should have hope to receive an interview from Duke (institutions)...
-
Last year they did interview some people... Last week of January. So maybe next week there'll be news out there
-
I feel you! I think between the last week of January and the First of February we should have a couple of results, following last year's trend...
-
I don't know about you guys, but to see some movement here reduces the anxiety hehe Btw, it is hard to know the members of the adcom, but once one does, they sometimes post things like "too many applications" or "nice applications"...
-
Great questions. If participation in this forum is a good sample, maybe the number of applicants returned to normal. We see fewer posts in the results page than previous years... Now, regarding the cohort sizes, I guess it may vary across programs and only internal info would help us.
-
I guess is still early, but I tend to feel the same regarding Duke...
-
I am sorry @coffeeman123. But the cycle is only starting (very early this result btw). Good things are coming!
-
Oh my bad. Jons Hopkins lol Nice school. Congrats!
-
Just to not let you without an answer, @0025gts.... I guess most people here are applying for US institutions (at least my case). Happy New Year everybody. I hope 2023 will start well for all of us

What an amazing profile. I guess your undergrad GPA will be a minor detail. The ability to attract money is so important today, so your grants are a super positive signal. You should be a solid contender. Oxford would be lucky to have you there. Happy Holidays all!
