Did you apply for sociocultural?

Yes absolutely! Though I am nervous about how much say the potential PI has in decision making processes. I was in touch with a PI last cycle and I was rejected by the school. This year I did the same and I haven't heard back anything yet. Fingers Crossed

I got into a doctoral program last year without contacting anyone in the department. I was interviewed though and it was recorded and shared with everyone in the department. It is infrequent but some sort of contact is kinds necessary.

Anyone heard anything from Yale? I was told by the DGS that I should expect to hear something by or around 15th Feb.

I don't know what they are doing. Were you contacted by the Anthro department or the Environmental Studies department?

I am just trying to keep my hopes as low as possible. Don't want to end up getting hurt. This valentine day is so cruel

Hey All, I had written to the DGS at Yale and they said that I should hear something around 15th Feb. I am incredibly nervous as I know they have conducted interviews but I wasn't shortlisted. Should I just assume a soft rejection or should I just wait. I had already spoken to my PI there not one but two faculty.

The department decides on the 2-3 then submits two additional people to the centers. The centers decides simultaneously. Also Israel and Middle East are the two regions

How long does the DGS take to respond? If they do not respond what should I infer?

I think they interviewed all potential candidates. Unfortunately I did not receive any interview requests. Though I applied to their combined WGSS and Anthro Program. So I do not know how that works. I guess I am rejected. It stings as I only applied to Yale. But anyway Good Luck! I hope you get in

What are the chances of getting into a program that rejected you last year?

Yes I did and after speaking to couple of graduate students. They took only one last year. I am so anxious about the whole process. Did you speak to any faculty there? Also Yale takes 4 Anthro PhD students every year. So.....
