  1. I grew up in rural Ohio so I am a true glutton for punishment on this front
  2. I don't know if anyone who is stalking but not commenting applied to Notre Dame, but the graduate director has said that faculty is currently reading applications individually. Question for more experienced people/anyone in a program currently: The History program I applied for had to cancel a medieval history class this semester because they didn't have enough medievalists to support it... Does that bode well for me as a medievalist? (The Medieval Studies program, which is my dream, doesn't have a lot of history subfield people, either)
  3. In brief in my signature, but my focus is medieval religious/gender history, and my research is on the sensory experience of pilgrimages/saints' cults and women's emotional reactions to those sensory experiences! I want to focus on the Florence to Rome stretch on the Via Francigena between 1250-1400 AD Side note, my thesis advisor in undergrad does a lot of post-war German memory work-- Dr. Ruff at St. Louis University. He's a super nice guy with very interesting work!
  4. This is my experience, too! Notre Dame doesn't get back until tomorrow, so no interview requests have gone out yet
  5. Hello, hello! Decided to throw my hat in the ring for PhD programs this cycle. I'm applying to Notre Dame's History and Medieval Studies PhD programs. Some things about me: BA in History & Italian Studies ('19, cum laude) MA in Premodern European History ('21, had full tuition scholarship) Fulbright Semi-Finalist 2 years of secondary teaching experience Italian, Latin, German, French languages 3 publications (1 in undergrad, 1 in my grad school's journal, 1 in a national medieval graduate student journal) 2 research grants awarded 1 conference paper, which won an award I don't know if anyone else is applying for the history program at ND, but I have heard from a good friend in that program that the department is in need of more medievalists (they had to cancel a medieval history class because they simply didn't have enough people to take it), so that's just a heads up.
