  1. I got accepted to TC’s English Education Ed.D program. ❤️ Is anyone else going for the Ed.D at Teachers College?
  2. I wonder about this too. I’m very interested in their Ed.D program, but people have been telling me it’s the university’s cash cow. ?
  3. Hey, everyone. I’m kind of confused about these two degrees. For an Ed.D, I’ve often heard that it’s more clinical and you apply it to your practice. For the PhD, it’s more about research. Which one would be best suited for my goals? Here’s a brief overview of my goals: I’d love to become a stronger educator, both at the K-12 and college level. I teach high school English now, but I want to better my pedagogy. I want the opportunity to teach college students (future teachers) someday. I’m leaning towards the Ed.D, but I worry it’s not as well respected. I’d love to hear thoughts about the pros and cons of both degrees. Thank you so much! ?
  4. Hello! I’m interested in a library science degree, but I’m not sure where to start or if it’s the right thing to do. ? I really like Rutgers’ program, but I’m scared of leaving behind my teaching career.
  5. Thank you for your reply! My passion is literature, but I gave up on that PhD dream a long time ago, what with the job market being impossible for English PhD’s. I am a high school teacher looking to possibly open some more doors career-wise. Perhaps I can be a curriculum developer or teach future teachers at the college level. I guess I just wanted a degree that’s tailored towards English teachers specifically. That way, I can scratch my literature itch. What do you think?
  6. Hello, everyone. I’ve been working as a high school English teacher for the past seven years. I’d love to get my PhD to potentially teach college someday. I guess I’m a bit confused about these two degrees: the PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (with emphasis on English Education) versus the PhD in Education. I’m interested in an online PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at SUNY Albany. I also was interested in the PhD in Education at Rowan University in New Jersey. I want a program that will allow me to merge my passion for literature with education. That’s why I was sort of leaning towards Curriculum and Instruction, but a friend mentioned that the PhD in Education would be better. Please let me know your thoughts.
