It will sound silly and fallacious but I am relived by the idea that February is only 28 days so there is not much left to end the month and the cycle lol

I didn't apply to Harvard or Stanford so no idea on that. My take on UPenn is based entirely on prediction with reference to the past data.

I think it is safe to say we should expect Cornell next week and UPenn for the first week of March. For JHU, it might be within 10 days (within these two days or the coming week).

Hey, this happened to me as well. I only got news from 2 of 6 US PhD programs I have applied to. I got accepted from Northwestern and rejected by Boston U. As far as I know NWU is a higher ranked institution. Yet I did not have a good fit with Boston, I sent my GREs there at the end of the test. So figured why not apply as well, just not to waste the score. Yet I have messed up my SoP there and as I said not a good match overall. For NWU, my potential advisor is a really strong match. Even stronger than I anticipated maybe - now that I am stalking them a bit closer lol. I think it is a matter of good fit. NWU was one of my top choices and I really like the department as a whole. Even if I got acceptance from a higher ranked institution I think I will commit to NWU! Btw, what do you think about the Northwestern political science department? I see lots of terms like R20, T10 etc in Reddit that supposedly define the institution. Is NWU a top 10 program in the US? I know that it is really good but I am not sure how good. I am asking this specific question because I also expect an MPhil admission result from Oxford. For context I am an international student. I am also a senior undergrad student so no grad school experience. So I want to gather some context to make a choice between a good US PhD or two years Master at Oxford (if accepted for sure).

Hello guys, what is a good stipend for a Ph.D.? I got an offer with a solid stipend. yet the city looks very expensive in terms of rent. It looks like 2/5 of my income will be directed to the rent. Is Illinois an expensive state? I don't drive and not planning to own a car and I have a relatively modest lifestyle. Are there any websites with contemporary data for calculating the cost of living in a certain state? Or do you guys have a rough estimate of the average monthly cost of a grad student? Thanks!

Mine did a quite similar thing. I am a senior undergrad so I also apply for masters in Europe and several scholarships. I am sick of asking the professors to upload the references, constantly reminding them of the deadlines making everything coordinated, de writing my SOP for the millionth time, mailing the admission offices for site breakdowns etc. This feels like the longest year in my life. If nothing happens then I will apply for jobs or internships but I keep myself doing it rn because I wait for decisions to come out. Sorry for the whole nagging but I am really so damn tired...

That is so true. At this point I feel like it is a spillover effect. Some programs took forever to do it and it spread like disease. ? Nobody feels the responsibility to take the decisions within a reasonable timeframe. There is no accountability or transparency. Also, half of the applicants probably get eliminated from objectively poor application, lack of documents etc. I mean I am quite sure I am not on the short list of each and every program that I have applied to. These programs could easily send out rejections very quickly. This whole thing is expensive, mentally draining, and does not welcome such a bright future for the short term (given the stipends). My professors told me that doing a PhD was madness, I think applying is the mad part to begin with. Edit: gramma(e?)r
