  1. I got my acceptance only through uOzone, no email. I’m not sure if that’s because they don’t send one or if I caught the acceptance change in the portal & accepted fast enough that it skipped the automated update email.
  2. I think it’s pretty random, I got my acceptance yesterday. I have a mid-alphabet name, applied for the Public Health Policy stream, and put in my application close to the deadline (January 29).
  3. Last year they had over 600 applicants for under 30 spots (it’s usually been 25-26 seats per year). The competition is almost on par with their medical school.
  4. I made a Discord server for uOttawa MPH 2023 admits: https://discord.gg/jYZD8Hdj
  5. For sure! I applied for the Public Health Policy stream, if that makes a difference. My passion is health policy work, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and international development. For academics, I had an 8.68/10 CGPA on the uOttawa grade scale and my program was Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences - Population and Public Health. First year killed my average, but after that year I didn't get less than an A- in a course. I got an A+ in my stats course and an A in my epi course. I graduated December 2022. Work experience: federal government analyst roles - Science Advisor at Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Data Analyst at RCMP, and Innovation Analyst at Agriculture and Agri-food Canada Research experience: research team assistant with Dr. Angel Foster's research group Volunteering: Health Communications Writer with Farm Radio International, member of the Ontario Council for International Cooperation's Youth Policy Maker's Hub, Community Health Educator with YEP Education, and Content Writer for Sex[M]ed Extra: I was a delegate for the UN's 67th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67), an invited participant to the Oxfam x CCGSD Youth Summit on Comprehensive Sexuality Education, and was featured by the Inter-Council Network for International Cooperation for my work on Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good health and well-being.
  6. Hello! I applied to uOttawa because it's my home base and I'm interested in their public health policy stream and international links. Nervous because I'm a first gen for applying to grad school. Bachelor program: Health Sciences, Population and Public Health option Grades: 8.68/10 (first year shredded my GPA, but I bounced back) Work experience: 3 roles in the federal government through FSWEP (science advisor in aquatic health science, data analyst in public safety, and innovation analyst in program evaluation/occupational wellness) Volunteer experience: delegate to the UN CSW67, health communications writer for Farm Radio International, member of a youth policy maker group that focuses on international development issues, community health educator, and content writer for Sex[M]ed Research experience: research team member for a SRHR research group at uOttawa
