  1. Vimal: you may get a better reply at urch forums. post your question at: http://www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/
  2. I am an international student, so the search is going to be difficult. Has anyone on this board found a place and is looking for roommates?
  3. Has anyone on the waitlist heard from GSPP yet?
  4. PhD student coming up. Economics it is. On the topic of housing: how much savings can one really make if one decides to live off campus than take an on campus accomodation?
  5. I am also interested in knowing about housing options near GWU. The on campus housing is for $10,770 and does not include food. If one considers living there, approx. how much would one have to shell out on living expenses- dining, bills etc. (assuming a modest living; no drinking and smoking).
  6. Understood. Thanks for the clarification
  7. Yes, I have applied for the Fall 2011 class. You too, I am guessing? PS: I still don't get what admission rate is (I am not looking for the stats as much as the definition) EDIT: @status- thank you for the link. The document makes an interesting read.
  8. Oh no, i understand. I am just trying to figure out how the system works. Just curious
  9. What do you mean by admission rate? And how is it 20%, if hks people think that 80% students will join? Shouldn't the admit rate be 80%?
  10. Hello everyone, I have few questions: how does the admission system work? Does the adcom admit a more students than the number of seats and has a waitlist over and above it OR does it admit only as many students as the number of available seats and has a pool of alternative candidates, lest someone declines their offer? If the answer is the former, typically how many admissions would they grant for 200-240 seats and how many would they put on the waitlist? Also, are the waitlist candidates rank ordered?
  11. Congratulations to all those who were accepted! Perhaps in the euphoria you missed the following question: "Does any one know what are the odds of getting off the waitlist for GSPP? What were the admission stats last year? Also, do applicants on the waitlist (if accepted) get financial aid?" Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

  13. I am waiting to hear from my preferred school and they say they can tell me only after April 15. In the meantime, I have an offer from another school which I have to accept before April 15. If I accept the second offer and get accept in my preferred school in May: what will happen if I decide to leave the second school? how bad can/will it get?
  14. I am guessing your interview is already done. Did you hear from them? accept/ reject/ wait list?
