Hi, not sure if anyone is still on here? Would love opinions on my situation...which is basically that I already accepted at NYU for Fiction (4/15 response deadline for most programs)--full ride, $18k stipend, already live in NYC so was feeling pretty iffy about being able to unplug from my life + cost of living. Then, I get a random call last week from Syracuse. Someone dropped their program last minute and they offered me the spot. Of course, it was highly unexpected--I thought everything was squared away because 4/15 was the deadline. I was also rejected from Syracuse with a generic form email, not even waitlisted. Never thought about it again. Their program is, of course, completely different--3 years, major teaching commitment, in Syracuse, NY, way smaller cohort. Everyone is so friendly, George Saunders even got on the phone with me. Anyways, would love any opinions. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? Would I get blacklisted for dropping NYU? Do folks have opinions on which program is better?

Are folks still waiting on Brown fiction, or has anyone heard rejections/acceptances?

This is a really interesting idea...The other program I got accepted to NYU, and I got a full ride + stipend. I'm very excited about it and grateful, but I already live in NYC and kind of dreamt of using this opportunity to get away from the city, focus on writing, have a washer/dryer at my apartment lol, etc. But, it seems insane to turn down NYU for the chance of maybe getting into Iowa next year. It's not like the note is a promise! Honestly--kind of crazy they do that? Can you imagine if any other school did? Curious cuz I'm not in Draft, the people who switched programs--did they transfer and just do one year at the second place? Or did they start their MFA over?

Mine has that paragraph, and also a personal note from Lan Samantha Chang saying I was a finalist--ugh! Not sure how to take that lol. Because I got fully-funded elsewhere, it feels stupid to turn it down to apply again to Iowa. And yet...

Yes, this just happened to me as well! Got sent a waitlist email last week, and a second today.

Yep! I haven't heard from WUSTL. Also haven't heard anything from Cornell or Johns Hopkins. Wonder if that's a no? Radio silence...
