  1. Brown poetry is making calls, but haven't heard about fiction.
  2. Tell me about it... Waitlists feel like just like microdosing rejection every day. I have noooo clue about my future any more than prior, but now get to feel this way for an additional month 🤠👍🏽. Thank you and, uh, very cool and dope.
  3. Got my waitlist for ASU today and have seen hella posts on The Draft about acceptances and what not. Also, saw one for UMD on the draft. Hope this helps.
  4. Poetry!
  5. Waitlisted by Michener. Understand it's competitive, but a little bummed since it's been my top choice since I started this process!
  6. Fully funded from NYU!!! That's HARD. This whole process is a real crapshoot and I really would not presume that this is going to happen again if you were to apply next year. I agree with earlier opinions of people saying that the main question you should be asking is if you can see yourself at NYU. However, you just got handed a pretty wildly great hand–– not just academically but networking wise too. On a personal level, I'm in the same position as you with no family support and nothing but my savings–– so do know I say this next part understanding the fears every life decision brings with it–– I dunno, maybe I'm naive, but the idea of working a mind-numbing job for the end of my days because it provides me "security" sounds kind of like what I imagine hell to be like. From what it sounds like, you've been living your life without security as is and you've been doing a pretty fucking stellar job both career wise and creatively. Furthermore, is working the job you said you hate for the end of time really the clear "smart move?" No offense, but who says that's even secure? People get fired from their "safe choice" everyday! What's another leap of faith in a life full of 'em? Congrats! Either way, know you're a writer through and through, no matter what NYU–– or anyone for that matter–– says.
  7. Two years back a friend of mine got their response mid-March. Not sure how helpful that is but that's how I've been framing the wait in my head...
  8. Just got an acceptance call for Iowa for poetry! At this hour!!!
  9. Yea... while I understand the scale of this process and how not everyone can be given tender platitudes, Oregon has been oddly intense at every step of this process. They were super snippy in their emails when I queried regarding fee waivers and even more so when I emailed regarding financial aid... Made me feel bad for even asking! Even in their little "MFA description" they come off a lil too stuffed-shirt, holier-than-thou-academic for my liking. Of course, congrats to anyone who gets in–– very awesome opportunity–– but def didn't think they'd be a great fit for me. (EDIT: Congrats on your Wyoming acceptance by the way!!! Very cool and also dope!)
  10. ...and a rejection from Oregon. Always stings but def would rather get the news than be in silent anxiety!
  11. Just got waitlisted by John Hopkins poetry... the train rolls on...
  12. Just got an acceptance from UNM Poetry and a rejection from BU Poetry.
  13. Interviews suck ?. Also got word about the ND interview. My Pitt interview led to me getting waitlisted so I'm not thrilled to be going through this process again. They always say they just wanna discuss inspo and what not only to drop a, "define your teaching style in three words" type question–– bleh. Simply more arbitrary metrics to navigate!
  14. A classic MFA message board lurker that just found this forum type deal... Got an acceptance from Iowa fic and a waitlist from Pitt poetry. Don't have family to tell this to so sorry if I come off as bragging, more just feel a little hollow in the excitement and wanted to share with some, any folks... Anyone got any news from Iowa poetry and/or Brown? Not quite sure how this place works so apologies if it's already been discussed!
