  1. I totally empathize with you all there I was finishing my BSW last spring and was waitlisted for the Uoft advanced standing as well as 6 or so of my classmates who had also applied. I bugged Angela within their admissions and the graduate studies placement coordinator at Trent whom i have a personal relationship with, and they both in different terms said how little movement there typically is on the waitlist after the tuition deadline of june 1st. The first reason is that Uoft is most peoples #1 choice and tends to come out a couple weeks after other GTA based advanced standing responses (york admissions are sent out a few weeks before as well as TMU) so those who make up the bulk kind of know where they stand when they get their acceptance. The second reason which kind of feeds into why its some peoples #1 choice, is the placement. Students are made aware of where their practicum placement is well before the tuition deposit deadline is, which further gives them an idea if they are going to take the seat. Placement assignment is in late april and while some may decline to pay the deposit and give up their seat if they didnt get into a hospital setting, that movement is mainly around that june 1st due date.
  2. The deadline to pay the deposit is june 1st so i think thats when you will see a lot of movement on the list Advanced standing students just found out this past week what their assigned practicum was (with the exception of 15 who didnt get matched in the system) so you may even see some who were hoping for a hospital setting back out and go with another offer. But yeah june 1st is the hard deadline for one to secure their seat so you unfortunately might not see much movement until that time
  3. I can honestly say from first hand experience that you should both take that as a win and a reason to be hopeful for the future! I remember the drop in my stomach when i heard back from UofT last march. It was really hard to keep it together for the remainder of the semester as i was in the last semester of my BSW at the time. With UofT being the only school i applied for, it was hard not to feel a lil lost in the moment. I went to my backup plan which was to get some more experience in the field and so worked from graduation until now as i felt that was the biggest weakness in my profile. I applied to UofT this year as well as York as i didnt feel comfy putting all my eggs in one basket. To my surprise, i was accepted into both, with UofT being into the health & mental health stream. I even learned this afternoon that i was placed into SickKids for my practicum!! It really is incredible what a difference a year can make, so your viewpoint couldnt be more spot on! Like you said, the strides youve made in the last 5 years cannot be overstated or minimized, so just imagine what another year means for your growth
  4. For those who received a phone call from York last week, has your offer letter appeared on your my file yet? The accept/decline option is there under application status and the find housing tab has appeared but my admissions letter tab has not showed up yet
  5. I'd imagine it would be quite soon if that's the case! I didn't keep tabs on my acorn until after the sgs update so I can't speak to the delay or timeline between the two
  6. I didn't! I got an email saying there was an update to my application on sgs and when I went to my current app, there was a pdf letter
  7. Received my acceptance letter from Uoft yesterday March 1st! Got invited into the health & mental health stream which was quite surprising as I know its super sought after. Still have to hear back from York and Toronto met aka ryerson but at this point I'm so over the moon I couldn't be bothered to keep looking!!
