Just heard back from Laurier (regular track full time), I was rejected which I am not surprised about and don’t really care because it wasn’t one of my top choices BUT just wanted to let everyone know to keep an eye out for an email

Same here. I’m not anticipating hearing anything until at least next week given their “mid to late April” timeline

Thank you! Nope, I’m regular track so still waiting for Laurier. I’ve actually only been accepted to the HBSW at Waterloo (so far) but have decided against it.

Does anyone know how to decline a previously accepted offer of admission at Waterloo? Can I do it on QUEST or do I need to contact admissions?

I’m not sure about advanced standing but I was looking back at last year’s forum for regular track and it was mid-April that the waitlist started moving. I think decisions for both programs came out around the same time this year so presumably the waitlists should start moving at the same time?

Don’t give up completely on UofT yet, there’s still hope. The hours do seem to matter more than anything else, I would definitely try again next year, and apply to as many other schools as you’re able to as well. It sounds like you’re in a very similar position as me (high GPA, great references & personal statement) so idk if it’s helpful at all but I do get it.

Thank you! I did the same for my personal statement, I’m thinking my hours was my weak point for sure.

For those who have been accepted to Western or UofT (regular track), if you’re comfortable sharing, what number of hours did you apply with?

Congrats on your success! I was waitlisted for both programs, I was wondering, what is the deadline to accept your offers? I am wondering when I can expect some movement on the waitlist

Thank you! My degree is in community social services with a diploma in social service work. I can definitely get direct social work experience with the degree I’m about to finish. I do have some direct experience (2 practicums, volunteering on a distress line and at a hospice) but I guess it’s not enough. It would’ve been nice to know how much the hours are a deal breaker before applying!

I was wondering if anyone has any insight to this. I applied for several 2-year MSW programs, and the 1 year HBSW at Waterloo. I’ve been waitlisted at 2 MSW programs and accepted to the BSW program. I’m not too hopeful that I will get in to the MSW programs so I’m trying to decide what to do about the BSW program. My goal would be to get into an MSW program next year but I don’t know what’s my better option, do the BSW and then apply for advanced standing or to work and then apply to regular track again. Does anyone know typically, which track is easier to get into? For context, I have a 96% average, currently have about 1400 hours of social work experience (the BSW program would give me another 700), and personal statements and references are very strong. Basically my weak point is my hours so would it be easier with increased hours to get into the regular or advanced track program?

I was waitlisted at Western. Has anyone been accepted? I am wondering what the deadline is to accept/decline so I can ballpark when I’ll hear something

Official transcripts weren’t mandatory for conditional offers because some of us are still in school

I think if you submitted a scanned version it’s not longer “official” like it has to be sealed and come from the school themselves in a secure way
