Totally random. I have a phone call scheduled for tomorrow morning to negotiate. A little less sure what we're gonna talk about now though 😆. I still have some questions about what my assistantship actually entails though. RISD is still super expensive, but at least this is more than ~nothing~
-
So I just got an email from RISD saying there were updates in my portal. I assumed it was just a late notification of my decision that I recieved yesterday, but I looked anyways and all of a sudden I have a $20,000 fellowship along with my $4,000 assistantship? I dont know if there was a mistake originally or if someone else declined and I got their money, but I guess I appreciate it either way

Graduate students are not eligible for the pell grant. I'm not sure if there's other grant money available. I'm expecting my federal aid to consist mostly or possibly solely of loan offers.
-
I cant seem to find it 😅
-
What page is this? Where did you see this information?
-
I only got $4,000 assistantship 😅 from RISD ceramics. What medium? And where do you have higher offers? Never be afraid to ask for more money! The worst they can say is no. Get your bag for sure

Would love it if people would share their funding offers (and what department). For me, nothing at all from SAIC, and a $4,000 assistantship award from RISD. Not that exciting...
-
I have recieved my acceptance status update, about 10 minutes ago. Not too stoked about the funding offered... but hopefully it will be better when they actually get my FAFSA
-
Yeah, I got my email with my login and stuff. It doesnt display any financial information for me... I'm assuming I didnt recieve any merit scholarships I guess, and the the financial aid page on the student portal is just totally blank for me? I guess because maybe the fafsa still hasn't been processed? Is it the same for anyone else?
-
Same here
-
Would anyone who got accepted to SAIC be willing to share their funding offer if they know it?
-
Nothing from University of Washington for me. I'm assuming rejection at this point, but i guess who knows.
-
I just had my call too. Accepted! Yay. Now I have to make a decision... did they happen to give you any info about financial aid? In my phone call I asked but she said she didn't really know about that stuff but I would be getting an email in the next couple of days
-
Sure, but why cant they just say what they're gonna say over email ðŸ˜. My anxiety cant handle this. Did you have your call yet? What did they say?
-
Was it an actual phone call?
-
Did anyone else get a vague email from SAIC (ceramics) requesting a phone call?
-
Wow you already got a response? I didn't yet 😅. What department?
-
What department? I also received an unofficial acceptance about 2 days after I interviewed lol. I've been in communication with the department head (ceramics) about visiting and possibly attending NCECA to get to know the program better. She said she expects the official letters to go out March 6

Anybody have thoughts about SAIC vs RISD? (I'm ceramics If that changes things)
-
I was accepted to the RISD ceramics program. Your comment makes me worried. Is there something I should know? 😅
-
Was anyone who interviewed with SAIC Ceramics given a timeline to expect a response?
-
Just informed I was waitlisted at Boulder. If the person who has been accepted isnt going to confirm and you're reading this, can you please decline so I can have your spot? I would appreciate it. 😅

Had my SAIC ceramics interview a little bit ago. They were friendly and I appreciated how much time we spent discussing my work. They pulled up photos from my portfolio and asked me to speak about them. They also asked about contemporary and historical influences. Why grad school now and why SAIC. Then we had a lot of time for questions. I felt a bit awkward because a lot of my questions were answered in the info session/meet and greet this morning but I managed to fill the time and it seemed smooth enough.

I got into some schools last year but ultimately decided to wait and reapply this year because I felt like I hadn't actually narrowed down what I wanted out of the program sufficiently and I didn't get enough funding. I wanted to be sure that If I was spending a big chunk of change on this I was clear about my goals and achieving them.
