  1. Has anyone heard back from Berkeley or Irvine yet? (I kind of feel aside from the TPP people, there are two transpo people on the site :\ )
  2. In all honesty, when I took Calc 3 I felt as though I had wasted my time taking Calc 2 -- The only concept you //needed// from Calc 2 was Integration by Parts. Anyways, just pick up a copy of Stewart Calculus (or something similar) and you should be fine... most of college calculus is just formulas and algebraic manipulation anyways (in my opinion)
  3. Hey! So for UT Austin, I asked them if they were reimbursing us (this was an informal conversation over the phone with someone not in my program) and he said yeah. I think it varies from school to school because UC Davis invited me to visit campus for an interview and they didn't mention anything about supporting us to go there. Then 10 minutes later I got an email from the same professor that read something along the lines of, "Because you have a good academic record, we're giving you $100 or $250 dollars to visit depending on if you're instate or not." Are you visiting the school for an interview? If so, it may be rude to ask, but if you've been invited it never hurts -- I guess. Also if you're looking for cheap tickets studentuniverse.com sometimes has really great prices on flights.
  4. I doubt it... a lot of my friends had never heard of thegradcafe. Anyways, I decided to join the fun and post my stats too... Masters GPA: 3.78 UGPA: 3.42 Grad Major: Civil Engineering (Transportation) Undergrad Major/Major: Mathematics/PoliSci (I went to a reputable women's college) GRE: 750/440/4.5 (I'm super bad at standardized tests) American female 3 LORS, research experience, no publications Applying for Transportation PhD
  5. Hey! So I've heard back from Texas A&M, UT Austin, and RPI (unofficially). TAMU's transportation program contacted me and their visit weekend is March 3-5. I just found out from the UTAustin website that I was accepted, but the transportation program hasn't contacted me or anything... anyone else in a similar situation with UTAustin? Thanks!!
  6. Nope, but I've begun to hear back from some schools. I don't think we'll hear back from either until Mid-March...
  7. Hey! I applied in Transpo for Berkeley and MIT -- no word yet.
  8. Hey! So I'm an American student who's heard back officially from one institution. They told me that they hadn't even looked at international students' applications and that the graduate school just sent them the US students first. So don't worry! If this school is like the others, the American students probably are hearing back before the international students. I hope this helps.
