Thanks for starting this thread. I am trying to decide between this SIPA course and the MPP course at HKS. Both very different courses, which each overlap with my work and goals in different ways. Two questions I have at the moment: - How much access do MDP students have with faculty, e.g. Jeff Sachs? Is it significantly different to other courses at SIPA (or other schools, such as HKS), as I have been led to believe? - What do previous students' views on the summer placement at the Millennium Villages projects? Was it a beneficial time that linked in well with your studies? I'm aware that this thread is aimed at future students and my questions are at current/past students. Thought it still worth posting here, in case some readers have helpful insights. Also planning to post to the SIPA admit discussion board. I am still recovering from the surprise of receiving offers from both SIPA (MPA-DP) and HKS (MPP). I felt I had a slim chance for both, so was expecting to get in to one at most. Now I have to make a tough choice. I'm currently leaning towards HKS as there are a number of faculty whose research relate to my interests, though the MPA--DP SIPA course is obviously also an incredible opportunity for someone planning to work longterm in the NGO sector. My primary focus is partnerships between NGOs and private sector and I have a job to return to in this field. My other interests include NGO leadership/management, organisational performance, disaster management and risk reduction and business at the base of the pyramid. I'm also looking to gain skills for launching/leading a research department/thinktank. Anyone have any advice?

Heard from SIPA today and have been accepted for the MPA-DP. Now the choices begin...

Have finally heard back from my first and second schools today, so I feel like I have graduated from this thread. Thinking of those still in this situation, having been there for 3 months+.

My stats: GRE: 770Q, 660V, 4.0AW Oxford Undergrad (2:1) International applicant, 9 years work experience in NGO sector. Can anyone clarifying whether the April 1 funding decision is for all the scholarships and fellowships that were part of the MYFAID process? Funny that the announcement comes on April Fools Day. Still a little stunned by this acceptance!

Just heard I'm in! Bit shocked by the news, and to hear so early in march. Well done all who made it and commiserations to those who didn't.

Certainly looks like they are continuing to come in. 2 mentioned on the results page for 14th March. Still nothing for me.

I'm also in the final 25%, though it's probably nearer to 22% now. Trying to be positive!

Thanks from me too. As much as I don't warm to the idea of another week of waiting, it is helpful to at least have a better idea. I'm intrigued by the differences in admissions information released from different universities. E.g. compare SIPA and SAIS.

YLSnKSG, interesting advice for waitlisted folk. Thanks for this. Could you clarify what you mean by updating a profile? Excuse my ignorance, but are you referring to a specific system, like SPARKS, or do you simply mean Informing the admissions office or...? I'm curious in case I end up on the waitlist.

14th March and still no replies. I didn't expect almost another week of silence after starting this thread. First application deadline was December 4th (3 more early January), so that's 100 days of silence! Anyone waiting longer than that with no replies?

I'm still waiting. I know rolling admissions is not a precise process, but I couldn't help noticing that if 10% have been reviewed in 3 or 4 days, they are releasing 2-3% of the remaining decisions per day since the 7th march. So, those of us in the final 25% could be waiting up to 8-10 working days based on this calculation. Of course, this is not an exact science. But still worth pointing out that based on this projection some of us could be waiting past the 19/20th weekend. (gulp!)

6pm on March 7th counts as 'early March' according to SIPA (congrats on your acceptance, by the way. I'm still waiting), so March 9th is a bit hopeful for 'mid March'. But you never know!

An email from SAIS I received says that "their reading process is usually complete by mid-March with admissions decisions being made shortly thereafter". Looks like last year was 15th, year before March 20th.

I'm still yet to hear any decision from any of my schools. Anyone else? Across this forum I keep seeing posters with a long list of courses they've applied to for this fall, but almost all have received at least some decisions. Some have had no acceptances, but most have had some news. Meanwhile I have heard nothing. Anyone else in this boat?

Congrats! The merit deadline was Jan 5th, right? Or was there a different date for international/US applicants? I applied a week before the 5th and still no news.

I'm pretty sure you mean March 15th - unless I missed my decision?

I'm going to be pessimistic and go for March 22, 5pm.

I've also applied for the MPA-DP and heard nothing yet. I've not heard back from any of my schools yet, so still looking for my first decision.

Good to know I'm not the only one keeping watch on the admissions blog! We've just finished two 3 part series, so I've been wondering if that means we're gearing up for the big announcement today? But still not change in the applyyourself interface for me.

Nothing on SPARKS for me, either. From a quick scan over the decisions from last year, looks like the majority for the MPP went out on 18 March. Not wanting to read two much into yearly comparisons, but Public Policy PhD decisions were on 3/4 March both this year and last year, so I imagine we can expect similar timing to last year in other course decisions.
