You all deserve good things. It’s been great to see some of you get em. But it’s not over till it’s over, or whatever that means. don’t stop writing- cheers to that -

Daniel you’re a sweet angel. I hope you enjoy your visits! I’m wondering about Pitts waitlist and how long or short it is. About the program, mostly curious about the teaching requirements and load- is there an opportunity to teach creative writing or is it just comp. Also curious about cross-genre work and how faculty may support this. I know a lot of faculty at Pitt are notorious for a more journalistic style, I’m wondering more for the lyrical essayist in me if poetry-prose hybrid courses or experimentation is encouraged & if so, how!! hope you have a great visit! OSU was my dream program, I hope you get to meet Elissa. (I’ll be sobbing in my room ) -

Those who have applied before and chosen to apply again- what made you decide to try again? I mean, this process is mentally and emotionally draining, and while I have several waitlists I am trying to start considering if I would give this another go around or not. Part of me thinks well duh it’s my dream of course I would try again, try more schools, update my writing sample. But another part of me says it wasn’t meant to be and no matter what I (and many others) just may not get in. This is all very defeating. But gosh I want it so bad. The thing is, I’m confident in my material and what I’ve been writing toward, and I felt really good about my apps this cycle and very ready for the next step of pursuing my MFA. I know more time to polish and revise and generate new material never hurts but I don’t see that drastically changing my odds. TLDR I’m just trying to balance my fears of the worst this year (rejections across the board- no waitlist movement) with the prospect of doing this all over again. Would it even be worth it? Part of me thinks, well maybe I get into an even better program next year. But another part of me thinks what if I get in off a waitlist this year and decide to go. Who can say what would be the better? im sure others have been thinking along these lines or have already applied multiple cycles so im just curious- what made you apply again? What are your regrets in the app process or things you would do differently? And do you think waiting another year might be helpful? Just curious some thoughts on this or if anyone can share their own experiences with multiple application cycles- did anything change, did your luck get better, what do you attribute this to? sorry for the long post. Im going through it. appreciate you guys. -

Hey all, sorry to post again about Wyoming but does anyone know if they are done sending out waitlists and acceptances? I’ve seen two acceptances on draft and several waitlists went out this morning. I have yet to hear anything so I’m a bit nervous. Is it safe to assume rejection at this point? Any chance of acceptance or waitlist still going out tomorrow or Monday stilll? -

Congrats on your waitlist!! I’m also waitlisted here and it’s one of my top programs. I’m curious to know how big their waitlist is and if it’s ranked. I already emailed them thanking them for the update and letting them know I’m very interested. Would it be weird to email again and inquire about the waitlist? I don’t want bother them haha but am definitely wanting to know more. -

I know waitlists are good but for some reason it feels like being a last minute choice to fill a spot rather than being someone they actually rly want in the program. My brain keeps coming to this negative conclusions about it. Can someone make me feel better about waitlist status 😭😭 -

Many congratulations! I’m also CNF, and applied to many of the same programs. Rejected from Ohio (which was my top choice) and waitlisted so far at Pitt, Oregon state and UNM. You’ve got some really great programs on your list, and I’m happy for you!! that’s great advice too about not ruling anything out right off the bat. I’m definitely trying to do that as well. wishing you best of luck with the rest of the process, and your decision! -

Omgggg cowboifairy congratulations on your acceptance! And thank you for sharing this info! UNM is one of my top choices and the program sounds amazing. but I know they only have 2 spots per genre so I’m feeling a little hopeless at the possibility of waitlist movement for me. Do you have any idea about how long the waitlist is or if they tend to move people off the waitlist? trying to cling to a little bit of hope if I can! Congrats to you for your fiction acceptance- I hope you have a great time meeting with currently accepted students! And I’m eager to hear more if you’re willing to share! Thank you for being so kind ☺️ -

How do unranked waitlists work and what are the odds of moving off them? Specifically I’m on a waitlist with 11 others for my top choice program. Someone give me hope 😭😭 -

Ugh omg sunny thank u so much for sharing this info! You’re the best! I replied to her email today with a short and simple thank you and letting them know that Oregon is my top choice. How did you word your email to them with your question/concern? I’d love to have gotten some specific feedback on my sample (LOL) honestly it would make me feel better. But I don’t want to email them again. Haha thanks for sharing and fingers crossed for us ! Ughhh I really really hope there’s some movement but this makes me feel that I have even less of a chance to get in if there’s more people on the waitlist that are equally good -

Hey all long time lurker first time really sharing or posting. I’m at 0a/4R/1W/8 p waitlisted at Oregon state today for nonfiction. It’s my dream program but I’m trying to be realistic here and not get my hopes up What’s the likelihood of being moved off the waitlist, in general? Also for a small program of only 4 NF writers how likely is it one of the others will turn down their spot? looking for any advice support or insight trying to have some hope here. Ugh sending love and support to those still waiting for results -

Hey sunny! I just got a waitlist notification for Oregon State for nonfiction as well. Curious if yours was specific about how high up on the list you were because mine was vague. I applied to 12 schools and have had 4 rejections so far so this is my only good news. Oregon is my number one program. I’m trying really hard to stay positive but I don’t see any hope of moving off the waitlist 😭 it’s amazing that you have so many waitlist offers. I know it’s a difficult time but I would maybe wait a little bit longer to see if there’s movement. What’s your top program? Also- the offer from Miami sounds amazing so congrats. At this point I would be so glad to go anywhere. I can’t stop crying myself to sleep lol. Fingers crossed for us both to get some more clarity soon!
