  1. congrats to those who got acceptances! has there been any news for oregon state nonfiction?
  2. Same, fingers crossed for us! Manifesting that you will get another yes soon. I'm really hoping for a fully funded acceptance. I'm international; to be honest, the only non-fully funded programs I applied are in Canada since I am interested in relocating there...the US doesn't feel safe political-wise, especially where I live. What about you?
  3. hi! congratulations on the acceptance! I also got accepted to UBC today and it seems like they have a pretty early deadline for deciding on the offer. it would be a dream to go there but i'm still figuring out some funding logistics...may I ask how are you planning to approach it?
  4. Thank you! I was responding to a post with a link haha
  5. hey! thank you sooo much for your response! it is super helpful. congrats on your acceptance too!! yeah, i'm sad to see that canada is imposing more restrictions on intl students. unfortunately, they said 20k "plus tuition and travel cost" so i'm not sure if the funding guelph provides counts towards the financial requirement, and I don't have financial support from family. (i do have people willing to lend me money for grad school, but i want to only follow thru as a last resort haha). either way, thank you for sending the website and information! canisia lubrin is one of the main reasons I applied to the program! I truly appreciate your support and I would love to talk more if you're committing/considering guelph!
  6. Is anyone else having trouble posting on here? I have tried replying a few times and the forum shows "Hidden - This content must be approved before it can be edited."

  9. This is a long shot, but did anyone apply to schools in Canada? I was accepted to the University of Guelph, and they said that in order to obtain a study permit, one has to show proof of 20,000 Canadian dollars, which I frankly do not have in my bank account. I know I should have researched all of these before applying to a different country lol, but if I were to consider attending this program, would it be possible to work with them and waive this requirement? 1A/0W/3R/7P
  10. I was also rejected from Wash U. (nonfiction) this morning. Trying to hold on to the hope that I will get into somewhere! Good luck everyone! 0A/0W/3R/8P
  11. I'm planning to bake banana bread/cookies/brownies for my recommenders — I hope they will feel more comfortable accepting them since I didn't technically purchase the gifts! Otherwise, I will buy them coffee/lunch after the decisions are out.
  12. Thank you! I'm doing pretty much the same. I'm writing a summary of my current project so I can deliver a pitch/description off the top of my head, and I'm planning to do a bit more research on SAIC's faculty since I'm not sure who will be conducting the interview. Since it's a pretty interdisciplinary program based on their website, I might also talk about my interests in soft sculpture / other art mediums if they ask. Best of luck to you! I hope your interview this week goes smoothly!
  13. I'm not sure if anyone else applied to SAIC — I applied because I'm interested in exploring writing and visual arts together — I just got an interview email from them. 0A/0W/2R/8P/1 Interview
  14. Congrats to everyone who has gotten acceptances and waitlists! I also got rejected from Northwestern today but didn't have time to comment the forum until now. It hurts since the opportunity to pursue MFA + MA seems amazing but I'll be okay with it! 0A/0W/2R/9P On another note, I have been surprisingly productive during the waiting period and have drafted two CNF essays. I sent one to a mentor and they commented that it is much stronger than my earlier works, so I can't help but wonder if it's a sign that I should wait another year to apply haha. Unfortunately, my situation is kind of complicated and grad school would offer me more safety/security than a job, so finger crossed for any acceptance!
  15. I'm not sure about the exact timestamp; I checked this morning and my status has changed from "pending" to "decision" and when I clicked on it, it shows a standard rejection message.
