  1. Feels a very early, and only one. Let's try not to lose our heads about it just yet haha!
  2. Michigan, UNC, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, UIUC, Rice, Pitt, Rutgers, BU. Mix of rankings and I didn't take the GRE for various reasons.
  3. Thanks for this perspective! This is the kind of thing I kept in mind when finalising my list of applications so this is is good to hear.
  4. That's a really great response and very much chimes with what I've been told by my professors/recommenders in the past. Duck of Minerva has a really good post about this and strongly warns against going to programmes that aren't fully funded for all students
  5. I interviewed for Wisconsin, they mainly asked about - Past research experience - Why that programme in particular - Why a phd - What challenges do you anticipate with a phd programme - What experiences have prepared you for the programme - What is your aim post phd I didn't actually get asked much about research interests, but I'd prep for that one too!
  6. and there's another UIC acceptance! likely that.
  7. ooooh that's a good shout, there was another UIC acceptance! Second this, I think it's fake if it's supposed to be UChicago, but top two in the uk for politics/IR doesn't usually mean oxbridge
  8. It could also be st andrews/kings/LSE etc which are generally regarded as top IR schools in the UK and do have masters programmes
  9. some of them might be legit, but I'm always sus when it's just one result as they usually come in batches
  10. The advice I've usually heard is not to consider departments where not all students are fully funded - while it looks like there is some funding available, this looks like one of them
  11. Okay now I look at it the one that came through as an acceptance from today is apparently for Illinois Chicago, so maybe still hope? yes I AM delusional
  12. Anyone claiming the Illinois acceptances? What subfield? Not looking good for me so far
  13. tell me about it, it's usually the 24th/25th! It could still be today though, it's what, 3ish there?
  14. if it helps, my only decision was a rejection lol
  15. Yeah! that's what they said hope for our admission I mean haha
  16. They've accepted in waves before! often early jan and around this time. there's still hope!!
  17. yeah the ones I know that might well come out next week are BU, vandy, northwestern still holding out hope for Wisconsin and/or Illinois this week!
  18. Did they *tell* you that you didn't get funding, or has the funding offer letter just not come yet? If it's the latter, I'd hold off - that's quite normal
  19. Congrats! Sounds like you might have a shot, might be worth shooting them an email?
  20. Advice seems to be don't reach out unless you have a genuine reason - that's what the prof in the reddit sub tends to say!
  21. at midnight CA time?? wild
  22. I didn’t take the GRE (which I’m guessing didn’t help with Rice) and I mainly only applied to schools that either aren’t accepting it (eg Wisconsin) or implied that it wasn’t that important So many programmes - even in the sciences - don’t even require it any more! Whether this means it can’t give a candidate an edge if things are otherwise equal idk
  23. aww thank you! that would be nice haha crossing my fingers for all of us
  24. rice rejection, ah well! still plenty to go (hopefully lol)
