  1. Nope! I know their interview day was last month but was not invited. Crickets since December. I'm wondering if they send all acceptances and rejections at the same time, or maybe have an internal waitlist?
  2. I thought I replied to this already but maybe didn’t go through. It’s Emory! I don’t know how other schools do it, but I was told my department waitlists 1-2 people per year. So if you’re willing, it might be worth asking JHU if they can tell you where you are on the waitlist
  3. Just got my first acceptance yesterday, after being waitlisted! Shed a few tears and am still in shock. For others on the waitlist, don’t give up hope yet! And thank you to all the super supportive applicants on this forum too; you helped alleviate some of the mountainous these past few months🥹
  4. For anyone who’s waiting on Emory BSHES, decisions should be coming soon. Got an email this morning saying I was waitlisted. Oh well! Maybe a spot will open up. Congrats to all admitted!
  5. Finally heard back from Brown BSHS, did not get in. I had hoped the director would at least send a personal email after the whole interview process but it was just a generic email from the admissions office. Congrats to those who were admitted though!
  6. I did earlier this week, no response yet. Hopefully I’ll hear something soon!
  7. Has anyone heard back from Brown BSHS after interviewing? I saw some acceptances on the results page but haven't heard anything yet... bracing myself for a rejection now 😕
  8. So unfair! Total waste of time and $100 or whatever the application fee was
  9. I unfortunately don’t have any idea of how UNC’s financial system works, but I know for UNC specifically, students are relatively successful getting in state tuition rates after a year or so. For general PhD stuff, I’ve heard of students successfully using more competitive offers from other schools to ask for a better package (larger stipend, fellowship, relocation stipend, soft benefits). I would look online or talk to current students for advice on negotiating PhD packages, since I haven’t gotten any acceptances (yet!) and haven’t gone through the process myself. I did however negotiate when deciding on master’s programs a few years ago (using other schools’ offers as proof I was worth more) and ended up getting an additional $25k scholarship. So it definitely can work! Schools just don’t like to advertise the fact that aid is negotiable.
  10. Congratulations!!! So excited for you. Don’t forget that financial aid packages are negotiable!!! Get paid what you’re worth🙌🏻
  11. I saw someone posted a Brown BSHS acceptance on Saturday but there’s no way they released decisions already, the director said they weren’t even going to start discussing until this coming week. So don’t panic yet!!
  12. From a friend, I know Emory BSHS sent out some (not sure about all) rejections earlier this month before interview invites were even sent. Their interviews aren't until February. I think the number of interviews/acceptances varies each year based on funding, even between departments.
  13. I applied for the BSHS program - there was a school-wide info session at the beginning, then we broke out into different Zoom rooms for each department for another info session. After that, I had three consecutive interviews, each with one individual faculty member (not sure if everyone else had the same number of interviews), then we ended the day with a Q&A with current students across all departments. The interview questions themselves were all pretty much expected, like "why a PhD" and "where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?" Simply put it was a long day of sitting at a computer!! But all the current students and faculty were SO nice! Students were really open about their experiences, including stipend/affordability which was great!
