there's a special word for that - "ghosting"! 😇

i concur with this post - i emailed penn at the end of february after the first wave of results rolled out and was told that i was not selected for admission. this means, however, that penn might be sending out decisions on a rolling basis and that folks may have a chance of getting waitlisted or even accepted at this arguably very late moment. hoping everyone can receive their share of good news!
-
so i did this thing - i provided my application number and then asked about my application status. still waiting for their response though, but i'm pretty sure it would confirm my rejection.
-
i think so, as their visit day is supposedly in mid-march (could be wrong about this) - in recent years they've accepted people off the waitlist in april; but if you haven't heard anything from them thus far, the chance of getting accepted at this point is slim to none.

re: WashU in St.Louis. Coordinator got back to me indicating that the committee has finished the review for this cycle and that all acceptances have been sent out; final decisions will come out later this month.
-
thank you so much for letting me know!
-
may i ask if you have heard back from ut-austin regarding waitlist movement? i checked with my poi yesterday and was told to wait at least till end of march. thanks!
-
i concur that the april.15 is firm, as reiterated by several schools that waitlisted me. but with regard to relinquishing offers after april.15 - this is not unseriousness; this is about looking out for yourself. if a spot at a school with better career prospect opens up, i'd go for it without hesitation.

re: WashU. I've sent an email this morning inquiring about my pending status and am still awaiting a response. Granted, my chance of admission is low as they've already sent out acceptances in early January.

Re: Penn. still pending at Penn and then i emailed the program coordinator, who replied by saying "you are not selected for admission at this moment."
-
i reached out and got a response indicating that all acceptances & waitlists have gone out via department emails; assume a rejection if you haven't heard back.

well the lack of funding has been a known problem for years at UCLA, but they never set out to resolve it. they do have a large cohort each year, but this doesn't excuse them from their funding obligations to graduate students.

wow! this is eye-opening for someone who doesn't dabble in IR. thanks for sharing.
-
you are in between two great choices! congrats and good luck to you in the future!
-
kindly reach out to the dgs at each school and ask if they can connect you with a professor/POI in your field. most likely they will be more than willing to help. it works out for me this way, and arguably is more direct and effective.
-
did you get the overyield info from their virtual events? thanks.
-
i was also waitlisted, and i was told that there won't be any meaningful waitlist movement until at least march. but i had not heard a peep from the faculty as i did not previously establish contact with any of them.
-
i'm also in ap but i'm not expecting an acceptance at this moment, especially given that i wasn't granted an interview.
-
it doesn't hurt to write an email of inquiry in a professional manner. but most likely the school will ask you to keep waiting.
-
that sucks. i'm so sorry. best of luck to the rest of your applications.

WashU in St.Louis sent out acceptances in early January; someone in the results page claimed an acceptance from University of Washington in Seattle just last weekend - they are in theory nonetheless.
-
oh congrats!!! northwestern did release acceptances in batches - talking about some real surprise this cycle.

i applied to JHU and didn't receive this email. but SAIS is a separate entity apart from political science, which is housed under the school of arts and science. maybe it's just a promotional email i guess?

thank you for shedding the light for those of us who are still kept in the dark! congrats again and hope you can have a nice celebration tonight!

congrats! it's a truly unique program.
