  1. Big congratulations! Sorry friend just found that I quoted the wrong post. I wish you will hear some good news back in the coming weeks! This is a Political Science Thread perhaps info regarding your program is available from a related Forum?
  2. Big congrats! Wish more to come
  3. Has anyone received interview invitation from Georgetown (IR subfield)? I know cp applicants have received it lately but not sure about IR
  4. I think apart from Brown, Duke and Madison also would accept PhDs only after interviewing them, and I've seen Georgetown, UIUC, and UW interviewed ppl before, while not all of them
  5. This is my second time applying to this one, my record last year shows that it was only changed almost one week after receiving rejection, thus I would say the status might not represent your actual application status.
  6. I did, while I don't expect to receive the result from CU until Feb according to previous records.
  7. I can definitely relate to this. I would not say that I'm a strong applicant, perhaps for the reason of imposter syndrome, I applied to 20 programs to make myself feel better. Hopefully we all can hear some good news back in the next couple of weeks.
  8. From result page, I saw UIUC released some offers already. It's really suprising that the process started so early, if those are not fake. Good luck to everyone and myself in the next coming weeks!
  9. Hello everyone! Does anyone know that if the word limit has to strictly follow the instructions of the program? e.g. GWU requires the statement should be from 250 to 500 words, while including a lot of things to mention. Minimizing an original 1000-word statement to a half sounds like almost impossible to manage unless I cut some info heavily. Your answers would be highly appreciated.
  10. Hello everyone, I'm looking for some guidance on how to strengthen my application for PhD programs in Political Science in the U.S. Last application cycle, I received an unfunded offer from the University of Florida and rejections from six other schools (UNC, Madison, Georgetown, UIUC, Syracuse, Northwestern) without submitting my GRE scores. My academic background before last application deadlines includes: Undergrad in International Relations from China with a 3.78/4.0 GPA. Master’s from LSE with a 3.5/4.0 GPA. Was pursuing an MPhil in Ireland (no grades available at that time). By now, I’ve recently taken the GRE and scored 165 verbal, 170 quant, and 4.5 analytical writing, and I am just about to start an intern job at UN in data analysis. My current coursework marks for the second master's are all 4.0. I feel more confident this year but still not sure where I'm gonna go. I would greatly appreciate your advice on: The Value of Referees: Does it significantly benefit my application to have referees who are well-connected in the US? Writing Samples: Should I adjust my writing samples to be more quantitative to align with U.S. preferences? Given the fact that I indeed lack the quant research background. Overall Application Strategy: Any specific tips or strategies for applying to top U.S. programs in this field? Thanks in advance for your help!
  11. I think it's real, just emailed the course coordinator and he/she responded that I was rejected
  12. Sorry a bit unrelated to your post: do you mind sharing the funding package of NWU and UNC? or DM me? Wish you got into UCSD soon!
  13. Claiming Florida acceptance, emailed by department, while funding was waitlisted 1A/3R/3P/0W
  14. thank you for all of these, it helps a lot!
  15. Has UNC sent rejections for this year? have not heard anything from it so far Also could you guys give me some advice on what to do for the next academic year in order to apply for a PhD for the next time? As I perhaps would be rejected by all the unis that I applied to. Would doing a third master's a kinda waste of time, as the committee may perceive me as an 'academically incompetent' student? Boring facts about myself: International student with an undergrad in IR, two masters in UK and Ireland respectively (Ireland one is ongoing)
  16. Here, CP with IR and Methods as second and third subfield, nothing heard from POI/Department/Uni so far
  17. Does UNC ended the acceptance from few days ago? Quite nervous about that as it’s my top choice and it seems to send offers in one time
  18. thanks, finger crossed 🍀
  19. Northwestern rejected, not a good fit at all, so not surprised. congrats to those who made it! Btw, my sample is not quantitative (but related to a few target schools), and I do lack enough related background (only several basic quant courses, and I just mentioned my intentions to do quant research by listing two ideas in my statement), would that be a mistake given the fact that quant is quite essential in the US? Thx in advance!
  20. just got a rejection email from program director, while nothing changed in portal, depressed even though it's not a good fit, congrats on those who got admitted 0a/1r/6p
  21. Congrats guys! Do UNC and UIUC necessarily have interviews? Have not heard anything from them yet. 0a/0r/0w/7p
