Rejected from UNMC Epi track this morning.

Got rejected from UCSD/SDSU JDP PhD in Epidemiology this morning. Also heard the SDSU DrPH admissions are out for the inaugural cohort, due to all the celebratory emails at work haha. I am slightly surprised although not shocked re: JDP, someone also told me there were over 300 applicants this year for only 3 spots?! A bit of hearsay but the source was from someone enrolled in the UCSD MPH so might be accurate. Everyone they know got rejected as well. Still nothing from UNMC Epidemiology DrPH here, I’m assuming I am a waitlist or rejection at this point since I saw a few others got admitted (congratulations)! I was accepted at UC Merced for their fully funded PhD in Public Health and may defer that offer to give us more time to move. Also accepted at CGU but plan to decline due to the cost ($14k fellowship awarded but it’s not enough) and the fact the program leans more health promo/leadership.

Rejected from UCLA Epi PhD last night via an email to check the portal for a decision update. Very classy sending those out on Valentine’s Day 😂

Unofficial admit from UC Merced today for their PhD in Public Health-not a CEPH school yet. I had thought their Visitation Day invite was an interview, but turns out it’s for admitted students (or soon to be admitted depending on the program). Nothing yet from my other schools, I got the congratulations email today from the department head.

I think I just received my first interview of sorts, since I got an email today for a travel paid Visitation Day for UC Merced’s PhD in Public Health program next month! Happy to hear something since it’s been crickets since Dec 1st for me so far. Not a CEPH school or ranked, but affordable cost of living and closer proximity to CDPH is appealing to me since I am currently in So Cal. Same! Best of luck, it’s the only DrPH program I applied to-the rest are PhDs I probably should have tried for a few others but maybe next round if needed.

I was confused by this too, I’m assuming they meant the preliminary review? I submitted last week and passed the prelim review. They will not be giving final decisions until later on and no one will be accepted or rejected from the final round until all apps are in. My email said by April 15th lol…of course.

Last year I saw acceptances and rejections for Epidemiology end of Jan/early Feb with some interviews and some straight rejections/acceptances. The timeline might be similar for Community Health but I’m not sure. We might be close! Someone posted in the results section about an informal Epi interview last month where they were told the program wasn’t doing formal interviews this year …but I don’t know how accurate that is. I’m here waiting with you, although I am not sure I would want to live in LA (again)! It’s definitely the best ranked school I applied to though.

The SDSU DrPH is a brand new program and requires 3 years of management experience specifically. I did my MPH there but I applied for the JDP PhD since I don’t think I qualify for the DrPH yet (and my boss who is a Senior Epidemiologist might barely now). We are a Top 20-30 school depending on the year so quite competitive .
