I was told if I got off the waitlist I would be unfunded unless a funded position became available. Yes, very weird for them not to say anything about the funding situation.

Does anyone know if there’s something different going on with UMD’s funding this year? I was under the impression that they fund 3 fiction and 3 poetry candidates, but I’m on the waitlist and was told it if I got off the waitlist it would be for an unfunded spot and then might get funding if one of those spots are turned down.

I got into George Mason!!! I got an email that made it seem like I’m getting funded but I want an official notice saying so before I get too excited.

GMU seems to have accepted poetry first in the past. The first acceptance was non fiction, now we have fiction, but no poetry?😭 I’m scared they’ve already sent poetry acceptances out and no one posted about it.

Hi guys, love the discussion going on! I’ve been trying to think of things other than acceptances or rejections. But I somehow found my way back to the spreadsheet. I’m waiting for George Mason, and it looks like they notify poetry applicants by now. Very nervous.

I’m also waiting on Mason! Haven’t seen anything for poetry (I think that’s good news atp), but I did see a non-fiction acceptance the other day.

Exactly. I’m trying superrrr hard not to constantly check the sheet, but I feel like two of my schools will come out with decisions soon. Hopefully we won’t have to apply next year 👌

I only applied to three schools this year and told myself I would use this year as a practice round for next year. Now, I'm so invested and regretting applying to so few schools.

Im waiting for Iowa, Brown, UMD, NYU, and VCU. I am currently going to college REALLY close to my hometown so I need to create some distance.

Omg, I’m a Black woman too! I totally get not wanting to be in certain areas, which is why I applied to schools mostly on the East Coast. That’s not going so hot atm. I’m still waiting on schools too. If there’s a next cycle for me, I might have to expand my scope.
