Y'ALL!!!! I just missed a call from Belle Boggs at NCSU. Surely, surely, surely that means good news? I've texted her and we have another time set up to talk, but I'm actually going to dissolve in anticipation before then.... I'm in Durham but from Texas, so NCSU and Michener are my top 2 programs. How do I distract myself until she calls?????

Wait I'd read an essay version of this rant though. That's WILD that the policy is just 'yeah sure whatever nbd' but it also feels very par for business schools from the stories I've heard.

Ugh, my only input feels shitty to share. Really sorry y'all haven't heard anything. But just for stats, I oddly got 2 waitlist emails from U of Oregon? It's the only program I've heard back from. I got one from a professor on 1/30 and one more formulaic one from the department generally on 2/9.

Oh for sure! I've been crossreferencing this year's announcement's with last year's draft spreadsheet as if I have nothing better to do with my life lol. Appreciate the solidarity of mostly not knowing!

For poetry? I'm still seeing 'submitted' on my fiction application. It feels like every program I applied to is taking extra long just to torture me personally. I've heard back from 1 of 12 so far 🫠.

I'm confused. Is this at me? Or JHU? I don't think they're being dismissive for not sending out rejections right away. It's pretty standard to wait a while to see how the acceptances/wait list play out I believe.

Ok I thought that too, but I've been out of academia so long I wasn't sure. Does seem like a wild move to me.

Ah hey, 31 here too! I'm a freelance writer which is fun and validating but also I cannot keep interviewing other people about their work and not investing in my own. I've started half-jokingly talking about selling all my stuff and doing the digital nomad thing if I don't get in anywhere, but I actually love my town? Who knows what happens after the next few weeks and/or months!

I've also been a lurker for the last week or so! I'm fiction, but I applied to both Michener and NWP, Oregon (waitlisted there!), Brown, Cornell, Vandy, UVA, JHU, Houston, Oxford (Mst, not MFA, interview next week), Hunter and NC State. All fully funded other than Hunter and Oxford, and I've been obsessively checking when programs told people last year. I just need the month to be over please!!
