  1. "Where I stand" Post (all painting programs): Accepted 1. Boston University (40% scholarship) this is one of my top schools. 2. CalArts in suburb LA (30% scholarship) not considering because there are few painting professor in this school 3. Pratt in NYC (no scholarship) 4. SVA in NYC (offered 8k after negotiation) 5. MICA (33% scholarship) not considering only because I don’t like Baltimore. 6. SAIC post bacc in Chicago (25% scholarship) not considering since it’s post-bacc. Rejected 1. Yale 2. UCLA 3. Upenn 4. RISD 5. Hunter College (of CUNY) 6. Columbia University --------------------------- I think my result accurately reflects the level of competitiveness of different programs 😆 I have decided to go to SVA this fall!
  2. I emailed Pratt this morning asking when the decision will be made since I have looming deadlines from other programs. And I literally received the decision letter just 2 HOURS after I sent the email. This feels like a JOKE. But thanks Pratt
  3. i haven’t but I really should. As far as I know the quality of the SVA faculty is declining. It’s also a for-profit school, which naturally leads to them being more career-oriented than being academic and “finer” art. Although that’ actually align with my goal. You could always use your other offers to haggle with SVA but I doubt they would give substantially more. (Side note I do think school visit is very important. I used to think I LOVE SoCal but after visiting the Calarts campus I know I absolutely do not wanna go there. The building feels very depressing to me psychologically
  4. It could also be that a) they don’t send the acceptance email at the same time b) they are waiting for the initial batch of applicants to decline the offer so that they could admit someone new.
  5. I think I am leaning towards SVA painting( although SVA didn’t give me funding at all). I do think BU is a great program (close-knit, good course, actually care about their students etc.) But i do want to go to a school in nyc. I realize at the end of the day I am the kind of artist who would choose a prestigious Chelsea gallery over a McArthur grant.
  6. I think it’s very hard for an international student to do that. I am also an international student. We can’t even legally work for any company that is other than our enrolled school. So for instance, legally, you job choice could only be working at the front desk of Saic library, working for their admission office etc.
  7. accepted to BU (painting) with 40% of scholarship
  8. Yeah I know someone who has received their offer (Pratt painting) on Feb 26 so I am confused why it’s taking so long to reject (or waitlist) me. (Although Pratt does practice rolling basis)
  9. Just got accepted to calarts (painting)
  10. anyone got accepted to Pratt painting?
  11. I also know someone who didn’t even interview as well but got waitlisted for rinehart.
  12. Just got accepted to MICA (hoffberger school of painting) with 30% scholarship
  13. thank you for the encouragement!
  14. omg they asked my the same questions. I interviewed this morning and they also asked me “Do you have a job” and “how was the juggling”. I also interviewed today. But overall I think i vibed with them and they did express sympathy to my situation.
