  1. in the 5-6 years i have worked in the vfx industry (film, games, commercials, etc) I have never, not once worked with anyone from these schools. My personal opinion is that if that is the path you want to take: either: a: just intern and learn. go to san diego, santa monica, la, vancouver. b. http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/ get video classes here or, if you really want physical presence go here: http://www.gnomonschool.com/ most schools (not all but a lot) that offer mfa do not have professors that work in the industry simply because they don't pay much and there are tenure folks that are competitive, have no clue about reality of working. there is a huge discussion area here http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=283 good luck.

    SVA waiting list

i don't know about the list but i got into their art practice program and i won't be attending, in case anyone is on that list. so one up for you.
  3. it's art of which technology is the tool. graphic design could be a departure point but is not necessarily the path. the few faculty i know do not do "graphic design" they make socially engaged art that utilizes technology and cannot be traditionally defined. it is more conceptually/philosophically aware than ITP, which relies more on programming. check out works by zach lieberman: he has an mfa form parsons and also teaches there. (that is why he is a good example of the school's direction on both the teacher and student sides) i don't think it is graphic design the way sva's graphic design is: graphic design job oriented. it's more of an experimentation field for an alternative direction where you manipulate many disciplines.
  4. is rca considered to be a better school than bard? is there a way to see how come or is it just based on gallery representation?
  5. i hope you are right. i keep re-running it in my head and the dumbest things i've said re-run much more often than the ones that made sense. if i get in-- it will be a miracle.
  6. has anyone ever blew the interview but have gotten in? i had an interview that just didn't go well. i was generalizing my answers. i rambled on and on. i asked an idiotic question. one of the interviewers was an artist i have seen give talks and whose show i am seeing in a couple of days (been eagerly waiting). i got star struck i think and terrified.
  7. not anymore, going to london for the interview!
  8. thank you and good luck on the interview.
  9. congrats on the rca and risd! did rca email you on the 25th as they said they would?
  10. could you post something about bard's interview: questions and such(or pm me please if you don't want it public) i got an email about sva interview not sure if that is the same department as yours.
  11. She is Nigerian. carry on.
  12. do people reply to emails informing them about interviews?
  13. bad idea. mainly because schools have open houses for that, where you can talk to people of your interest, ask them if you can continue emailing them etc. if i were someone who is contacted in this situation i would ask: why haven't you done research or had interest in the workings of the school before applying. what good is sitting in on classes (which is not allowed in many schools) after you applied besides trying to get your application noticed and suck up to the committee. but that's just me.
