anyone from outside of NY thinking about going to a program in NY? how are you thinking through housing? anyone asking for more funding regarding this? Got accepted to programs in two of the most expensive cities in the country, and though the funding is great the relocation is absurd.

post-pandemic? or experiencing the feed of genocide without having an outlet within the academy to speak on said genocide?

what is the actual accuracy of the spreadsheet? seriously. are we all predicating our thinking based on the belief that folks are telling the truth? ive never had facebook so im unsure how it works. is there something im missing?

For poetry as well?

"I realized just how many people who post acceptances went to extremely prestigious colleges for their undergrad---almost every single known acceptance for Iowa, at least for poetry, went to someone from an Ivy." this alone should be a reason not to even want to attend such a program.

anyone know of any update on Rutgers-Camden poetry? Also whats the general feel when it comes to Brooklyn College? How does one even go about living there if they got a full ride? They have some of the best poets around, but just wondering.

Prestigious, elitist, selective, and so on are predicated on highly problematic ideas. Going to such institutions, one should be wary. We need not go into the long list of successful artists from the mud that never went to any academic institution, let alone a prestigious one. Is the goal just to be read by other writers within the academy? Or to be read by the petit-bourgeoisie. Will the lumpens and lumpen proletariats read your work?

I hope that most of you go into these programs with an attempt to speak to the truth of our current context, for so often, what ends up happening is the folks that get the degree end up becoming petit-bourgeoisie adjunct professors somewhere. We all know the academy does not produce material change for those in the mud in the States and throughout the diaspora. I humbly ask that when you enter these institutions, the liberation struggles being fought right now are at the forefront of your mind as you write. We need more writers engaging in our current context, not just sitting around waxing about form that does nothing to improve the material conditions of those who feel the most weight from the state. Free Sudan, Palestine, and all political prisoners.

perhaps the elitism of IOWA should make people feel some sort of way other than wanting to go there?

Question, What if you got a call about acceptance, then spoke to someone about the acceptance but have not gotten any formal letter via email or the portal for the school?

any information regarding brooklyn college/rutgers-camden notifications? is it usually around march or have folks been notified already?
