I'm coming to the realisation that I'm two and a half months away from handing in my senior thesis and I've written not one word. It's only 12,000 words, but I'd quite like those words to be well crafted. The two annoyingly short essays I have to do beforehand are proving a major disincentive though. I'm just sick of doing third-year level work that I kind of feel I've proved I can do already over and over... I think it's about time for 7am starts and militantly early bed times...

Hangovers definitely don't improve a weekend of waiting. You've been warned!!

A weekend of heavy drinking beckons. That's not going to help the essays get done, but it is going to help take my mind off things.

Going from the Results search they admitted one international student by phone last night. As a fellow international I was hoping that was the delay too, now I'm closer to giving up... Three Stanfords now... one last night and three today. All funded, all American or US degrees (I hope they're doing internationals last...)

You'd really think that is be used to hearing nothing but I swear each day it's a bit harder getting to 5pm Cali time. At least once I hear something from Stanford, good or bad, I'll be able to relax 3hrs earlier every day.

You can't go wrong with a bit of 'Catch Bull at Four' or 'Sweet baby James' I'll have to check out Jaydiohead - thanks for the heads up I've now moved on to 'Freewheelin' Bob Dylan'. Very good to exorcise break up demons, as was Rachael Yamagata.

Still no word from Stanford either...

TEFL was really good fun actually. The guy teaching it was brilliant and I wish he'd been teaching me when I was at school studying French or Spanish (or now for Arabic)! Really practical learning techniques, totally different to other teaching styles I've encountered before and tailored specifically to language learning which was really interesting. If I was teaching I'd probably split my time between Jordan, Palestine, Egypt and maybe Lebanon - all to try and get my Arabic up to a passable standard. Then I'd try and get into something a bit more political/community related to get some relevant experience while out there
