  1. Congrats! I hope they give you tons of money XD
  2. They have at least started sending out acceptances in poetry, nothing in any other genre yet.
  3. Looks like someone just got bumped up from the Michigan waitlist, seeing movement there of all places makes me more optimistic about my own waitlists
  4. A terrifying thought…
  5. I think probably they mean places that fund most or all of their students when they can but can’t guarantee funding to every accepted applicant.
  6. Went on that walk in the woods with the dogs, then went out for lunch and marathoned a show with my friend, and I managed not to think about my applications once! Very proud of myself, lol. I hope everyone else had a restful Saturday as well and managed to take your minds off this grueling process at least a little!
  7. I have a walk in the woods with a couple very sweet dogs and a Black Sails marathon planned with a friend
  8. Right?? Does anyone know the general timeline for when they notified last year?
  9. Ooh but someone with a UW Madison acceptance just got into Michigan on top of the one who got into I think it was Vandy, so my odds there are looking up!
  10. Nevermind it’s backdated to the same day the others were sent out, here’s hoping for a waitlist…
  11. Another USC acceptance just went out to a fiction applicant so it looks like they’re doing a slow rollout and there’s still a possibility that mine is coming, and a definite possibility of making the wait list… here’s hoping!
  12. I’d say whichever one comes more honestly to you. As long as you mean it in good faith, I think it can be beneficial if they know you wouldn’t turn a potential spot down for anything else were it to come your way.
  13. Yeah, even within the two programs I’ve been waitlisted for, one of the emails was a lot less personal, and still hasn’t responded to the email I sent back last week, whereas the other responded promptly and offered to make time to talk to me about the program and my plans and any questions or concerns I had, and I suspect this has a lot to do with the length of these respective schools’ waitlists.
  14. Same 😅 work is going to suck a lot more again when I’m not using it as a distraction from the stress and endless waiting
  15. @littlealien There’s one fiction acceptance logged for Iowa, see @triciadawn and @Chex’s posts above for more detail (they’re the second and third entries on this page). @saramsarang Congrats on the A! I don’t know anything about Binghamton specifically, but there’s an email template for inquiries about funding at the end of this article: https://www(dot)profellow(dot)com/tips/how-to-negotiate-your-funding-offer-for-graduate-school-an-email-template/

  17. Is Boston for Fiction the one year program or was there another option?
  18. Oh sorry you’re right, all the fiction entries so far have been rejections. I’m on my phone so it’s easy to misread in the app! @Chex good to know about Iowa!
  19. Yeah, I figured this was mostly it. I think it must speak to the improvement of your writing that you went from no fully-funded acceptances to three! I suppose I just have to keep working to get myself from top 20 material to top 5 material
  20. BU seems to be done as far as I can tell, there are both acceptances and rejections in the spreadsheet. Nothing yet on Brown. Iowa has one questionable entry for fiction and one legit one for translation, other than that I’m not seeing anything!
  21. Damn congrats on that 3A! Is this your first rodeo? If not, any advice on maximizing your chances from one cycle to the next, or is it just putting in good old fashioned hard work to improve your writing?
  22. Omg congrats to those newly waitlisted and accepted to programs! Unfortunately I’ve been vigilant about checking my spam folder too, haha. At this point I’ve taken to just assuming that I probably won’t get into a program and setting myself up for pleasant surprise or expected disappointment, which has been working better for me. I barely felt the Michigan rejection (though this is partly down to how nice the email was, lol).
  23. Congrats to everyone who got good news! Just received my official rejection from Michigan. It was probably the nicest one I’ve gotten so far, and it said a lot of the things people in here have been saying about it not reflecting on my quality as a writer. I am also increasingly anxious for any kind of news about U of Arizona… I’m also out of reactions, and there were other things I wanted to respond to I’m sure, but I had to catch up on so much since I last checked in here that I don’t remember!
  24. They could have just been rushing or be on mobile or whatever but that is the only entry from that person so idk…
