2024 Canada Prep & Admissions SLP Thread
Hopefulspeechi replied to SLPinBC's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi everyone! There is still waitlist movement happening. I was just offered a spot at the U of A augustana campus. I have decided not to take it though as I already accepted a spot in another program. Hopefully someone on here waiting gets the offer next !! -

U of A offers these two online: https://www.ualberta.ca/communications-sciences-and-disorders/programs/csd-undergraduate-courses/csd-200.html https://apps.ualberta.ca/catalogue/course/csd/311 They also offer phonetics online and a few psych courses that are language related! -

I can’t speak specifically for anything to do with OSAP, but I also did this because I didn’t get in last year. I started an after degree in education to take some classes to boost my gpa. I don’t think universities mind, at least not in my experience. I was waitlisted this year for SLP at UofA but I was accepted into OT -

I can’t speak specifically to the schools and the programs but I like London as a city more compared to Montreal. I’m from Edmonton and find Montreal way busier and the commuting around London is a lot easier. Montreal is way more of a “city” vibe though if that’s what you’re going for. That’s just my opinion though! I know the academic piece of it is super important but it’s also important to consider the city since you will be living there for two years !! -

I’ve always wondered this too. They also don’t release how many people are on the waitlist ;/ U of A seems to be a lot more secretive about their numbers compared to any other school. -

Does anyone know how many spots are on U of A’s waitlist? They don’t tell us our spot on it or even a general idea 😕 -

Congratulations to all those who got into U of A today! If anyone is comfortable sharing, what were your stats? & For those of you who were accepted, is U of A your first choice? Or are you hoping to get accepted into another program next week? Just asking to see what the waitlist movement may look like for Alberta -

Does anyone else’s U of A portal still say their application is in the “pre-screening” stage? -

This is why I’ve turned off my email notifications because I don’t want to be randomly caught off guard 😅 -

Does anyone else follow the U of A rehab med page on Instagram? Seems weird that they are still accepting applications for the Saskatchewan cohort. That could be why they are pushing the admission decisions ? -

I wonder if that means the applications were more competitive this year 😳 -

I would maybe email the advising email? Mine also said I had required actions when I submitted my application but it went away a few weeks ago. What stage is your application at? My “required actions” went away when my application was moved to the pre screening step. -

Yes!! Definitely freaking out even though I know it's still a little bit away... U of A applicants found out last year on March 29th. -
I also received a rejection for the MEd SACP program 😕

I don’t know about McGill but I also applied to ualberta. I do believe that u of a is one of the schools that looks at applications more holistically so I hope they consider it fairly strong! -
Hi all! good luck to everyone applying this year! I am so nervous and am constantly checking the UCalgary portal. This is my first time applying and I had a few questions: 1. Does anyone know how many people are accepted to the UCalgary MEd SACP program each year? 2. what are your application stats (Ex. GPA, experience, etc)? I’m trying to gauge whether I am competitive or not. 2. Will we receive an email or will it just show up in our portal? I assume that we will find out this week since it marks 12 weeks since the application deadline. good luck to everyone !!
