Based on the last few years at least, it seems like they send waitlists a week or so before rejections. Don't know what's up this time. Given its popularity and cohort size, I'd be surprised if none of the waitlisted people were logging it in the spreadsheet.

Has NYU send waitlists already and I missed it? Why are they sending out rejections before waitlists otherwise?

Listen, statistically speaking, we're 99.95% going to get rejected from Brown anyway but I don't think it's delusional to be suspicious of that lone acceptance that was not followed by waitlists and rejections right after. Historically (and for poetry this year) Brown has followed that pattern. And for some reason I think there was a fake earlier Brown acceptance last year too.

I would assume so, they only take 4 or 5 people so I can't imagine they're staggering it. It was definitely surprise attack seeing that in the sheet on the weekend.

It has some legitimate crituqe for sure but it definitely also seems like an overblown emotional response to his personal experience that might not reflect how things currently are. Same. It was mentioned in the UIUC fiction acceptance entry on the spreadsheet that 12 people were on the waitlist. At least one of them's gotta be on draft or here?

Now that'd be an exciting scenario. But yeah my last name is towards the end alphabetically too, so that's likely it. I mean I'm still waiting for JHU to reject me, presumably for the same reason.

Not the literary arts one. I read that article. It's about the theater MFA that run in collaboration with a theater company and they had temporarily paused it after Covid. They're just doubling down on that decision now. Likey doesn't have anything to do with the current administration and not relevant to the literary arts department.

Oh I figured that. I was just worried about the portal not saying "departmental review" or something, and instead just being empty.

Anyone here apply to LSU? My portal has went from showing application status as "graduate school evaluation" to nothing. I can't tell if that's business as usual or if my application is stuck in some sort of limbo.

I see. It's not an inappropriate question, it's pretty standard I think. If you do find out, could you post here as well? I'm also curious how selective Alabama was. And thanks and best of luck with your season too!

I haven't gotten the rejection email from them yet, but if you want to know how many applications they received and how many people they accepted, I think you can just ask the MFA director or whoever you got the acceptance call/email from.

Yeah it changed to awaiting decision like a day or two after I submitted. Probably just means the file was forwarded to the adcom.

Yeah I applied to Minnesota too and haven't heard back. Based on last year's data though, they seem to send their waitlists much later so maybe there's still hope for that. It seems like such nice program.
