Has anyone heard from Georgetown and NYU?

Does anyone have any broad ideas on what is the cause of this year's cycle being so remarkably competitive (based on all these rejections)? Is it due to the current administration freezing federal funds for universities? Any insights would be helpful.

I heard from a professor who is on the admissions committee that they only admitted 2 applicants for IR, 2 for comparative, and none for methods.

Hi all, I have applied for the top 20 Political Science PhD programs in the United States (IR subfield) and want to gain some feedback on how competitive you think my profile is for admission into these elite programs/schools. Masters GPA: 3.93 / 4.0 (from a top IR program at a research university in the USA) Undergrad GPA: 4.0 / 4.0 (from university in the UK) One publication (a book chapter in an edited volume from a top IR publishing house) Experience as a Research Assistant to a globally renowned IR scholar Experience as a Research Assistant for a foreign policy Think Tank in DC Letter of Recommendation from a globally renowned IR scholar (served as their RA and they were also my thesis advisor) Masters Thesis at the US university (with honors), with a very original theory on a policy relevant topic GRE scores: 151 quant; 155 verbal; 5.0 analytical European citizen (I mention this because I've heard that funding constrains impact international students) I have submitted applications to Harvard, UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, Yale, Princeton, NYU, Columbia, Georgetown, UChicago, UMichigan, Cornell, UPenn

Georgetown PhD in Govt finally sent their rejection letters/notifications today.

I'm also still waiting on an outcome from Georgetown's PhD in Govt program. So ridiculous that they haven't shed any light at this point. Just give us a God darn rejection!!! Can't be too hard to press a button and send out an automated notification. They're leaving us all hanging...

Still no outcome from Georgetown's PhD in Government. Anyone have any idea on whats going on? Should I consider myself rejected and just move on? ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any insight on how Georgetown's M.A. in Democracy and Governance is recieved in the professional world? Is it a respeced degree, or is it undermined by the fact that its not a degree from the School of Foreign Service? And more importantly for me, is it a suitable M.A. program for those wishing to go on to a Pol Sci PhD and become an academic? Or more geared for producing think tankers and state dept professionals?

Still haven't recieved a decision from Georgetown's PhD in Government. i emailed them a few days ago and got this response: "Thank you for your email. The government department is currently reviewing applications and you can expect to hear a decision in the coming weeks." I've read that some have already recieved offers. If we haven't by now, should we take is as a sign of rejection? Or that we may be on a waitlist and have a chance pending admitted students declining their admission?

Hi all, I am in desperate need of advice on which offer to accept. I am an Irish Pol Sci / IR student who is aiming to enter academia and advance to completing a PhD in the USA. I have recieved the following offers for Grad School: Georgetown - MA Government (Democracy & Governance) Tufts Fletcher - MA Law and Diplomacy UChicago CIR - MA International Relations UChicago CMES - MA Middle East Studies Johns Hopkins SAIS - MA International Relations I have listed the offers in order of preference. I think Georgetown has an excellent prestige and the MA program has a PhD program directly correlating to it. DC is an awesome location. Importantly, I am most drawn to the flexible curriculum and the faculty's expertise on my future research interests. However, it is the only school that didn't offer me any merit aid. Tuft's is my second choice becaue of the prestige and the faculty; the only downside is that Boston isn't as cool as DC, and it lacks the faculty who has strong expertise in my interest area. With the two Chicago offers, the IR offer will be a second IR degree for me which won't contribute any more substance to my profile. The ME Studies program is very language focused and highly niche. As for SAIS, I have been told that it has the weakest prestige relative to the other three programs I've recieved offers from + it is another IR degree. I'd love to hear everyones insights on my line of thinking. Does anyone disagree? Or have had any experience with any program? Also, if anyone has any advice on how I can negotiate merit aid from Georgeotown, I'd be greatful to hear.
