Thanks very much for this detailed explanation of how things might be playing out. It is quite helpful and puts things into perspective. WRT #1- I asked the question because I thought there would fewer initial offers this year compared to a normal year. Perhaps in a normal year, they would not even go to the waitlist if they have the required yield from the initial list of offer holders? Maybe this year because the initial acceptances number would be lower, there could some more chance of getting into the waitlist? (and perhaps the waitlist would also be shorter). Thanks again!

Thanks for this info! I have two questions- does lower number of initial offers mean greater chance for anyone who is waitlisted? Also, are the anticipate cuts directly impacting Pol sci admissions? I thought most Pol Sci programs do not rely on it..

working now!

Is it safe to assume that all Duke acceptances have been sent? Or can they be sending it in batches? A review of the previous cycle's data seems inconclusive
-
Anyone claiming a Duke acceptance?
-
Based on what I have seen in forums of previous years, it could be the case that waitlisted candidates have been informed earlier and different faculty members are writing to accepted students one-by-one or in smaller batches.
-
Do you think it is a troll who did it after seeing our comments here? Are you saying this based on previous cycles? (that they tend to send acceptances in a few waves and not all at once?)
-
Anyone claiming a Duke acceptance? All I see on the results page is 2-3 waitlists. Not sure how they are going about this. Seems to be another quiet day.
-
To those who got offers from Brown: have you got any communication about a virtual or in-person visit event? Thanks!

I have not applied to U W-M in this cycle. But I would see it as a positive sign if you have not heard from them yet. As the have sent out formal rejections. It means that you have probably been kept on the waitlist. Maybe writing an email to the DGS after a week could be appropriate.

Does UW-M have an official waitlist?
-
Thanks for all the info- quite useful. Yes, it looks like they are doing it in batches as you suggest. Quite odd and more stressful. Congrats again and good luck!
-
Congrats! Can I ask you for which subfield? Also, did you also get an email to check portal or was it directly updated on the portal? Thanks!
-
Yeah, just saw it. So, if these are genuine posts, I wonder if they have released waitlists for all subfields. Also, no acceptances have been posted yet..
-
Ah right sorry. Quite dumb on my part. Just got put on a waitlist recently and hence all the more desperate lol
-
Then I suppose that is the case Did you get off the waitlist last year?
-
Maybe they have not formally announced it but this person was informally informed by their POI?
-
Anyone claiming Duke? I see a single waitlist in the results
-
True. But I think two concerns right now are: 1. They do not seem to have released rejections for anyone as of now. So, not sure if they have purposely kept some of us waiting because they believe we might have a chance. 2. The email response stated that decisions would continue to be released through the first two weeks of Feb. So, I am not sure if they were referring to the April 15 deadline. But again really want and hope my pessimism to be proven wrong.

I think you are referring to my earlier post which I am quoting here. To be honest, she did not say they are doing it in batches but her exact words were as I quoted here " we have made some decisions and we will continue to release decisions over the next two weeks". She said this on Jan 31. But no updates since then. I am beginning to think that the rest of the decisions they are referring are probably all rejections But I really hope that I am wrong. Fingers crossed!

Any idea when can we expect Yale, UPenn and Duke results?
