Hi everyone,
I'm currently a third-year undergraduate at Peking University, majoring in Medical Imaging/Radiology. My GPA is 3.3/4 (I know it's on the lower side), and my TOEFL score is 97 (still working to improve it). I'm seeking advice on which graduate programs I might be competitive for, or if anyone has recommendations for strong programs in my areas of interest.
My main interests include:
Medical Imaging (especially MRI)
Computational Neuroscience
Medical Physics
Bioengineering and other interdisciplinary fields that combine medicine and engineering
Skills:
Fundamental principles of all medical imaging modalities
Programming in Python, C++, R, Stata, and Shell
Hands-on experience with ML and DL
Some understanding of hardware
Research Experience:
Working on a paper about fast MR imaging and super-resolution algorithms (currently revising for submission)
Writing a longitudinal epidemiological study based on public databases (using ML), currently interpreting the results
Extensive understanding of DTI and fMRI; independently initiated a project on resting-state brain function research, including DTI-based reasearch and coupled network analysis (currently collecting data, methods established)
Some experience with neurology, focusing on ML and radiomics, with a poster presented at barany conference
As an international student and a minority, I also want to mention that my family's financial situation is not ideal. If possible, I'm hoping to secure a fully funded PhD position, where additional expenses could be covered through work or other means. Therefore, programs with lower living costs would be especially appealing.😭
Lately, I've been feeling quite overwhelmed because I'm unsure which schools would be a good fit for my background. I also don't have much experience with reaching out to professors (and to be honest, I find it a bit intimidating).
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance for your help!
