I've officially accepted UCR. Good luck to everyone!
-
I was thinking I'd probably accept UCR today if I didn't hear back from USC. Are you gonna wait until the 15th to decide on UCLA?
-
Did y'all get the USC update?
-
I have emailed USC about a status update. Will report back if I hear anything.
-
AHHHHH I HAD BEEN COUNTING UCR AS A SOFT REJECTION BUT I JUST GOT ACCEPTED!!!!
-
Today is the day that USC said it would get back at the latest which means I'm in a state of extra vigilance.
-
Out of curiosity, what made you apply to BU for screenwriting when you applied to playwriting for all the other programs?
-
Ngl was way too overjoyed to be receiving any update from any of the schools I applied to lol. Though I agree, the middle of the night is wild.
-
None unfortunately. The only reason why I'm not going insane right along with you is because at least I know we're getting correspondence by Tuesday at the latest. Doesn't make the wait or the wondering about it any easier though. I do think they got back from Spring break this week. So maybe this one is for shoring up final thoughts.
-
I feel like we'll probably hear next week. But I feel your impatience. USC is the last school I'm waiting on.
-
For plays, Beheading Columbus by Diana Burbano, Wonderland by Kate Douglas, and Optional Boss Battle by Nick Malakhow. For books I Was A Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones.
-
That's so exciting! The thing for me is with my autism I don't travel by myself. But after communicating this, they said they could accommodate a plus one for me, so I was able to accept.
-
Maybe this is a silly question, but it's just the portal status or also the status on the application management page?
-
In other non-mfa related news, I just got word that I got accepted into GPTC (!!) (still unsure if I will be able to go). So if you applied to that one, you should be hearing soon.
-
@Mday and @bibsy congrats on the waitlist! It is a big accomplishment, even if it may not feel that way right now. I hope spots open up for both of you. I do think that Iowa interview is real. I was on r/playwriting this morning and someone was asking for advice about how to approach their Iowa interview tomorrow.
-
Bummer about Michener, but good luck on the Northwestern interview!
-
It does make me wonder if UCSD interviews are already out and just being unreported lol
-
For those that applied to Iowa, on the Results page it says someone got contacted for an interview on 2/17. That's like really early right?
-
Well I still haven't heard from any of the schools I've applied to yet, but I did just hear that I'm moving on for Ojai which is nice. Anyone else hear good news from the festival circuit?
-
Tomorrow is still this week (and maybe they just need a bit more time too).
-
I have been learning how to crochet. My New Year's resolution was to take up a hobby I couldn't monetize, and now I have two dinosaurs. I also signed up to be a reader for a new play festival, and so far I haven't come across any bad plays.
-
Ahhhhh that's my worst nightmare! I'm glad they let you reschedule and that it went well though. Besides make sure you've got the right timezone, do you have any advice for going into an interview now that you've done it?
-
Wait that's so cool! And I am slightly jealous that you didn't have to write the statement of pedagogy.
-
I love this! I mean, not the getting laid off part, but all the rest! I totally feel you on wanting to build up a practice that doesn't depend on outside parties. The entertainment world is so volatile right now, and it doesn't look like it's settling anytime soon. One of the reasons I applied to UC Riverside is because of the inter-disciplinary aspect of their program. They encourage you to seminars in a variety of genres, and if I end up there I'll definitely be taking advantage of that!
-
@bibsy Congrats!! Out of curiosity, if you end up having to choose between a creative writing and a playwriting program, which one are you leaning toward?
