Congrats on your waitlist from them! They were one of my top choices I've assumed rejection from the places I haven't heard from yet but it's also possible they contacted those who were higher on the waitlist first and have a few others further down. Ya never know! Best of luck with your waitlist.

Congrats! Both are really great schools. i wanted to apply to UC Boulder because I think Colorado would be lovely but my research interests didn't seem like a clear fit. Chicago would also be really cool. I don't think it hurts to ask! I would (hope and think) that program directors understand that it's a stressful time for applicants and everyone ultimately just wants to start planning. Syracuse when they told me I was waitlisted did not provide much info and even when I asked they just said it could change. They were nice but not every program would tell you. I hope you hear back soon and get the result you want.

For me, one waitlist I know I won't make it off of. I'm not very high up on it. For the other, I was told that I'm higher up and they often make offers to those on the waitlist.

I was a middle school teacher, I got my MA and transitioned to higher ed

I'm only operating under what I've done and what others have said. 1. When you get it, express your interest and say something nice. You can ask about the size of the waitlist. When I did, I was not given an answer though. So, prep for that. 2. You can follow back up but I'd probably wait until march. Most people are accepting/declining spots yet if they are still waiting to hear back.

Basing this on 2025 date and dates can change! Minnesota - it looks like people got notified on 1/22 for this cycle. I don't see that waitlist are reported but last year they were reported a few weeks later. Arizona - last year went out around 2/14. No reports this year except in nonfiction Alabama - waitlist went out on 2/7 this year Ole Miss - round 2 was just notified today. Greensboro - think late feb/early march SC - late feb/early march idaho - 3/18 last year Arkansas - 2/26 las year

Yah it was weird this year because last year they confirmed they got the email and this time it was just like welp hope that worked. hoping for good news for you soon!

If I remember correctly they don't tell you if you didn't make it to round two until later. I was waitlisted last year and made it to round two again this year.

Thank you! I have one acceptance but it's in a less than ideal location and out of all the schools I applied to and would be the most difficult transition.
