  1. Any mention of poetry? Do you know how many of each genre they take?
  2. I am wondering about the status of Iowa poetry calls. I always thought Elizabeth Willis was the caller, but apparently someone named Mark Levine is calling? Maybe they split up calls, or they switch years?
  3. I'm not sure why I had got it into my head that today would be crickets... I think I saw someone post in a previous year's forum about dreading the long weekend with the silent holiday, lol? Apparently it is not silent.
  4. Wow, I saw a Cornell poetry acceptance on the draft. I didn't think any schools would reach out on President's Day!
  5. Is that a new addition to the site (about the 11th for UMich) or has that note been there awhile?
  6. Oh okay. Someone from Michigan viewed my profile... I have told myself it doesn't mean anything, but who knows.
  7. Was it a professor from Michigan?
  8. Noon in eastern time zone?
  9. That is great you have a job you enjoy! My job isn't interesting enough to be a great distraction so I've had to fill a lot of dead time. I've been listening to more music as well as writing fanfiction. I have been talking to someone on a dating app, but I think I am scaring her off because my replies have become increasingly long-winded, lol. I guess I am trying to distract myself by focusing on her.
  10. I am probably overthinking and creating elaborate, ill-founded theories.... last year's Syracuse waitlists received an email. This year I received a generated email to check the portal where it said I was waitlisted (similar to person who posted on MFA draft excel sheet). I wonder if "higher up" waitlist peeps get an email, and the rest get the stock letter from the Dean?
  11. I only know of UMass, Pitt, and Boise doing interviews.
  12. Does the Amherst data on the fb page seem like interviews have all gone out, or it seems similar to Pitt, aka rolling basis?
  13. Do you know why it is less common for most people to do an MFA in Creative Writing before a PhD? Is there an actual reason, or it has just become what is normal? I wondered if I should apply to PhDs since they are longer programs-- more time to develop myself.
  14. Okay I found the two (?) acceptances on draft once I calmed down and slowly looked, lol.
  15. I can't even find the UNLV acceptance on the draft list... probably because I am so anxious, lol. Is that where it was posted?
  16. What kind of intel? I know Boise is a small 3-year program. You only teach one course per semester and it is Creative Writing-related, not Freshman Comp. If you already have a masters, you can teach a Form/Theory course. They welcome interest in translation. You work on a thesis during your last year. Stipend seems lowish for the city? But maybe fair considering the teaching load? I don't know. I wish it was higher than $11k.
  17. I just did an interview this morning. They did most of the talking. I was asked why I wanted to attend their program and what I was currently reading. I applied for poetry, but my answer to current reading was a work of fiction. And they were like, uhh, so what about poetry...? So I guess they were looking for an in-genre response, lol.
  18. Ahh, yes, thank you.... I forgot everything I had read previously about interviews, but now I am remembering something about coming across as essentially not a know-it-all/ a-hole/whatever. Thanks for re-orienting me, lol.
  19. I know there are past threads discussing interviews... has anyone been interviewed recently? I just know I am going to freeze. I haven't written a thing in what feels like months and I can't even recall or articulate what my writing process is, or who has influenced me...
  20. UNLV always seems like one of the latest. I just had my app move from grad school review to departmental review yesterday.
  21. Just looked Pi up. Looks a bit dated, I don't know if I could make it through... Clint Mansell the composer is an actor in it? Interesting... Oh it's directed by Darren Aronofsky. Hmm...
  22. What is drawing you to Boise State? I applied there for poetry.
  23. Yes, based on the movie! I need to re-watch it; I haven't seen it in a long time.
  24. It is fun... the heightened sense of expectation and purpose, the possibility of being recognized. It feels like a kind of re-do for my undergrad self who didn't get to go to a small liberal arts school. I do feel very *alive* when I am waiting on application results.
  25. Totally agree! My brain is just finding ways to question everything. I think it is partly because I am 31 and recently started a nice safe desk job that I both like and don't like. Part of me is just uncertain about leaving my current life. I don't know what to prioritize or what my "needs" really are.
